Abhishek Nayar

He's not just T20 hype.

But has solid FC stats behind him.

Time to give him a run in the ODIs? Guy looks awesome, unperturbed by the bowler (Flintoff will never forget that pwning in his life ) and can switch gears at will.

He is also a good bowler as demonstrated by him being highest wickettaker for his Ranji winning team last year.

Too early to give him a chance. He is good playing balls on the full but balls which are short are a bit of trouble for him. Not the finished product by any means.

He did this last year too, not exactly a recent revelation for Mumbai. Just a handy T20 player so far looks nothing more than that.

Yeah, he won't be able to sleep tonight, he'll have to spend the time counting his money

But better than the Yusuf Pathans and Rohit Sharmas in ODIs surely? His bowling is a big plus.

Nah, his technique is not upto the mark yet. Rohit Sharma is way ahead of him where batting is concerned. As an all rounder too I wouldn't have him as I don't like bits and pieces players who are not the finished product.

No, but he is better utility than Pathan or Rohit in ODIs. Dhoni's technique is one of worst in the wordl and he is best ODI batsman.

Keep these things in the IPL thread in general, don't think we need a new thread everytime a player hits a few sixes.

They're OK. List A stats aren't good. He shouldn't be near ODI team.
FC stats are excellent for an allrounder who is only budding. His T20 exploits are awesome. So an average ODD record should be considered an aberration and he must be given a go in ODIs.

Yusuf Pathan's bowling avg is even tardy in ODIs. Rohit does not bowl at all. Certainly Nayar > Sharma in ODIs in terms of overall value.

No his technique is definitely not the worst in the world. He is a smart player with a pretty decent technique. Utility players - I am not a huge fan except if some one was indeed decent in both departments of the game.

FC averages of 44 with bat and 30 with tha ball is not enough?? His SR is pretty good as well.

Hi Moderator, please check out his stats. There needed a trigger to start this thread. Otherwise this was a thread waiting to be born. He is future star of India.

Technique is not honed up yet to flourish at the international level. Averages have nothing to do with it where I am concerned.
Have you watched him in Domestic FC matches? I have not. However I don't think you can make any idea of a player's technique by watchin him in T20s. His batting average in the 44s indicate he hsa got the technique to survive in the longer format of the game.

Batting FC avg of 44 is nothing great in Indian conditions. I have seen him bat enough to know that he has technique holes which need to be filled up, particularly against balls pitched short. He is very good against balls pitched up and full, mind.
