Hewitt should beat Safin, but will lose to Stepanek IMO.

Good to see Ferrero doing well again. His fall from grace due to his illnesses and injuries was a sad story, and he's a very attractive player to watch.

His win over Andreev was huge in the semis, and then he didn't have much problems with the much improved Serra in the final. Go Juan! :)

Murray looking much improved on clay. Like his attitude to his tennis atm. A guy who wants to succeed.

Really still can't help but think this whole clay season will belong to Nadal though.

Safin takes the first set vs. Hewitt.

Likely to lose the next two from here without winning a game

Instead Safin wins in straight sets.

Far out he played good tennis. Not that many unforced errors, and was mentally stable!

Hope it lasts more than one match.

Hewitt on the other hand, not so good. Battled well, but really looks like he can't compete when another player with weapons is playing well.

To be fair to Hewitt, he had to be jetlagged after arriving from Houston so late. I don't think he's done yet, and will easily push inside the top fifty considering the amount of zeroes he has at the moment.

Yeh he seems to have a bit of form and fitness for him. I think hes what 57th now? It's important for him to have some good tournaments now and get the ranking up to near 32 so he has a chance of being seeded for Wimbledon and avoiding the big guns until at the least the 3rd round. Given his Grass court record if he can get inside the top 40 he should get seeded for it.

Yep all true. He had a stiff draw, and the commentators mentioned possible jet lag and fatigue after the Houston tourmanent as well. Plus he did have his groin problems at the end of the first set.

As long as he's enjoying his tennis, its fine for him to go on. But its sad to see Grand Slam winning players who were once #1 in the world just sort of cruise along, have a good tournament every now and then but basically not be really challenging for most major tournaments. And I'm not even a Hewitt fan, never liked him! But your Haas (I know he never won a Slam), Safin and Hewitt trio deserve a good finish to their career.

For now they seem settled to keep going, and fair play to them I guess.

I think Hewitt has been unfairly maligned by the Australian public (join the queue there, Lleyton), and he's no where near the prick we make him out to be. So what if he's a bit brash on court? I'd much prefer watching someone with a bit of personality than some of the other robots.

I know you like him, which is fair enough, but I'm pretty sure Lleyton became hated because:

a) many players themselves have come out and said he acted like a dickhead
b) the black linesman incident at the US Open 2001 when he was playing James Blake

To be honest, you're not doing yourselves any favours when you act like that.

Also add the fact he was on Home & Away with Bec Cartwright.

Link doesn't open for me :(

Blaming this on Kyle, has been watching it non-stop imo and no-one else can get onto the site because of this.

Uhhh Roger?

Down a set and a break to Wawrinka (my boy!) in the 3rd round of Monte Carlo.

Seriously looking like losing atm. Forehand is a mess.

Wonder if he can come back.

No he can't!

Wawrinka is the man! 6-4 7-5

I fail to see how anyone can argue that Roger is still be the #2 player in the world. He simply isn't atm.

Will do if he manages to avoid Murray, if he doesn't then even on clay i would expect Murray to beat him.

Federer lifts for big tournaments, hes been in this "slump" for over a year now and hes still managed to make pretty much every slam final in that time. Plus hes still on his ridiculous streak of what? 18 or so straight slam semi final appearances.
