I think Kenya have forgotten how to play cricket.

Still a few batsmen left, but the top order fail again.
The Kenya/Scotland scorecard hasnt moved for about 20 minutes.

129/7 and both their ODI status and World Cup spots in huge trouble as they still have to play Ireland.
Someone should remind them that if they do not make the top 6 they will very likely have to find new jobs outside cricket.:@

It's ridiculous. I am not sure why Waters doesnt make the team, he made 61 not out in his last game, and they dropped their best fast bowler as well. Admittedly Otieno is bowling well, but maybe drop Onyango instead. Also, Tikolo himself has had a poor tournament.

Sorry, I'm not into the whole ODI thing - what's the advantage of finishing in the top six? I thought the top four was WC status.

Kenya 165/8 with 3 overs to go. Nemi should come in before Varaiya as well. Scores faster. Kenya are going to have to bowl damn well.

Also doesnt say much for Kenyas appointment of a batting coach.

Ah, ODI status brings with it financial benefits I assume? Could that be the difference between professional vs. amateur?

A fair chance, obviously greater funding is going to help with the development of cricket in each country.

A very flat performance from the Kenyans. All out 178, they'll be hoping Scotland continue their poor batting form.

Namibia set a competitive 258/8 against the Dutch. Namibia hitting form when it counts.

Same goes for Afghanistan. 257/7 off 49. Looks like there could be a whole bunch of teams on 4 points after tonight.

I can't believe we are staring in the face of losing ODI status.
What a bloody debacle.
Glad to see Otieno in though why he was not in before for Odhiambo who somehow retains his place is beyond me.

Congratulations the Kirsten brothers you look like you have managed to completely undo what Roger Harper achieved.

We are really going to have to pull it out to prevent a complete death of cricket in the country and I don't think I overstate this. Unless we retain ODI status (at a minimum), there is little hope that any development will continue, especially with the rise and rise of Rugby 7s as the nation's most successful team sport. Even a failure to qualify for the WC may just be delaying the inevitable.

Also, im lead to believe Odhiambo is there because he has some batting ability. They cant rely on all 11 players to be able to bat.

The only thing saving their 'bacon' at the moment is their net run rate.

It's a real sad state of affairs, ever since being a kid in primary school seeing Kenya play at the 96 world cup they became my '2nd favourite team'. And more recently, I have been keeping a closer eye on them.

I am not sure what the Kirsten brothers have done, but its been on a downward spiral since they took over.

Im also lost on their team selection. I dont understand.

Fair point I suppose.
I assume Ongondo is injured, but not heard anything from sources to indicate that.

I cannot see how next match they can't include both Waters (for Obanda) and Otieno (unless he has a dog of a day with the ball today).

Hate to say this, but Tikolo also really needs to step up in the next 2 games to prove he should still be leading the side. Sadly both he and Odoyo have failed to lead from the front and it is costing us dear.

Im hoping they didnt drop Ongondo because he was expensive against Canada. Cheema is going to tee off against anyone he plays, and Unfortunately it came off the other night.

Yes, Tikolo and Odoyo have been very disappointing. I'd like to see them try Kamande as captain as he seems to have a very attacking frame of mind. An odd call, but it could be for the best.

Kenya's batting has been on a downward spiral for a while. They have been relying way too heavierly on Tilkolo and Odoyo for way too long. They really need some others to step this tournment if they were going to make the top four. Not playing Walters has been a joke. He is easier their next best batsmen after Tilkolo. He might not be suited to OD matches, but runs are runs. Even if they are scored slowly.

Tikolo's batting has gone missing aside from that 50 against a piss poor Bermuda, but Odoyo has consistenly had circumstances against him whenever he has gone out to bat 5/98 against Scotland today, 4/61 aganist the Dutch, and 4/42 against Canada often before the 20th Except for against Afghanistan Odoyo has been going out to bat in a situation where he has to curb his natural aggression and see Kenya out of very desperate circumstances. desperate circumstances largely of their own making. With that kind of pressure on a guy who is batting at 6/7 ostensibly to attack is it no wonder his form with the bat is affected. Given Odoyo also has to lead the way with ball often after having to rectify the bad works of the top 6 is it no wonder his bowling is not where it should be. The same goes for Jimmy Kamande who has ironically been the best bastman in the team all tournament, difference is he has a less central role with the ball and doen't quiet suffer the same amount of pressure.

If this were agaionst polished proffessional Test teams there might be room for excuses but its against associates! its a total joke!!

Not playing Waters has been a disgrace, he only failed once. I admit at the start of the comp I could see it coming, but now I realise it has been a huge mistake.

Have they thought of playing Odoyo more as a bowling all rounder, batting him at 8, and bringing Waters in as an extra batsmen? Obviously they'd have to drop a bowler, but Kamande, Obuya and Tikolo can bowl 10 overs of spin between them.

That would be apologising for the irresponsible shot selection of the likes of Ouma and Obanda, and even Tikolo's lack of form. If they are to bring in Waters it would have to be for a batsman. These guys have to shape up or ship out.
