*Official* English Football Season 2008-2009

Norwood's on Fire
From the blurry memory I have of 1997, they could have won it that year as well. IIRC they could have gone top after we lost to Derby, but lost on the Sunday to Coventry. Can't remember how close that was to the end of the season, would've been about now I think.
Hmm don't remember it very well but have just read a little passage on wiki which suggests they were top until February and still in it until Fowler got suspended with 4 games left

95-96 has always stood out as one of Liverpool's better chances, Fowler was absolutely on fire that season and my Dad still talks about "Black November" costing them the title

I remember them being up there in '96 and helping us out by beating Newcastle in that ridiculously exciting match. That was the year Newcastle were 12 points clear and let it slip.

I turned 6 over the course of that season, but i still remember it pretty clearly. Footballing matters get etched permanently into my brain.

That 4-3 was immense, I watched it MOTD without knowing the final score and was on the edge of my seat the whole time, or bed as it may have been actually

They did another 4-3 the season after IIRC

BARNES OUT
There's been some awfully bad refereeing in the two matches so far today. How Ashley Young keeps fooling ref's with his "run at 3 defenders, run out of options and fall over comically" move is beyond me, and the ref in the Citeh game has been just as terrible. Konchesky just rugby tackled Bojinov, you say? No foulllll. Kamara sneezed near a defender?! FOUL!

I didn't see Manchester United's game against Sunderland, but having watching them play against Poto the other day, and seeing how at sea their defence was, how long before a better team takes advantage of it?

Our defence has been pretty piss poor the last month or so. But we are starting to get players back which should help. Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Rafael and Wes Brown should all be back soon.

Neville looks past it every match he played so, maybe it just getting match fitness and awareness back. But can't see him being much more then a bench/squad player in the future.

It been a massive couple of months for Evans, been brillant for us. But looks like he has hit the wall and needs a bit of rest. Looks a bit tired mentally at present. Making some errors that he wasn't making when he first came into the side. Wes and Rafael will start to give him more of run for the last starting spot. So it might help him up his game again. But also give him a rest, when he doesn't play.

Once the boys are back on deck, we should be sweet.

I watched it live at Sunderland & (Rooney apart) Man Utd looked poor. Vidic looks half the player he was since Torres give him the run around, the midfield looks short on energy and the least said about Tevez & Berbatov the better.

I can't believe that Fergie plays Rooney, who is by far Man Utd's best player, on the left wing where he can't really influence the game as much yet plays Berbatov & Tevez through the centre both of whom were so ineffective.

Was Gary Neville's dive showed on TV? looked absolutely ridiculous at the ground almoast Klinsman like.

I know Utd's fans get a lot of stick but the away support on Saturday was brilliant sang the whole game & created a great atmosphere.

Huge win for the Bees, played nearly the whole of the Second half with 10 men, should be fine now, 4 points clear of second and 5 clear of Bury with a game in hand.

Utd's away support is usually awesome.

Yeah, its a well known fact amongst fans at games that you can generally count on Utds away support to be vocal and amongst some of the best going. Every time i've been away with them its been brilliant. The home crowd are just as good, just less fans get to see it from other clubs. The noise inside the ground never seems to translate onto the TV, be assured its rare OT is actually quiet.

Most 'fans' who take the 'Man Utd fans never sing' attitude, well the nearest they've come to seeing Utd live is a Ford Super Sunday Special (tm those *****s at Sky)
