I think they had some kind of an exclusivity deal with the ECB over cricket played in England. It was mentioned as one of the possible problems for Pakistan playing tests here.Do they have grounds for objection, though?
have one question for BCCI if they play in England will they play in the county grounds where ICL players are involved????![]()
That is actually a great question.have one question for BCCI if they play in England will they play in the county grounds where ICL players are involved????![]()
Absolutely. That is actually a great question.
Agreed. Personally, obviously I'd love to see it live. But this is a case of letting another board come in and clash their high-profile tournament with our home test series. Bring Pakistan tests here, fine. That's a case of helping out a board who has significant struggles. But this is totally different. This could get messy. I dont think England should touch this.
It doesn't matter, Setanta (who have a miniscule number of subscribers compared to BSKYB) have the UK TV broadcasting rights for the IPL (until 2013).IPL doesn't involve the English team..
The sponsors might be Indian? Not sure on that one though.Shouldn't that be known as the EPL then? What's the difference? Just a lot of Indian players?
Think you're right there. IIRC Sky made some threatening noises about one of the ODIs Scotland or Ireland staged being shown on (again, IIRC) the BBC a year or two back. Don't know what happened to resolve it in the end.I think they had some kind of an exclusivity deal with the ECB over cricket played in England. It was mentioned as one of the possible problems for Pakistan playing tests here.
I can't see Sky happy with the IPL in England clashing with their broadcasting of home test matches, and I wouldn't blame them tbh. And as they're probably (one of?) the biggest sources of funding for cricket in England, I don't think that pissing them off is a good thing. Even if it makes the BCCI our 'friends' again.
Just signed a fresh one I think, so could be ages. CBA to check tho. When does Sky's deal with the ECB expire?
Quite true, I bet. Mr Clarke has already shown by the company he previously kept in 2020 circles that he's prepared to hitch up his skirt if the price is right, so I think the ECB would literally bend over backwards (or forwards) to accomodate the IPL.Modi told Telegraph Sport: "The IPL is a big competition. We would bring around $100 million of revenue to the British economy and anybody in a recession would want to have us."
Go Duckworth Lewis!Quite true, I bet. Mr Clarke has already shown by the company he previously kept in 2020 circles that he's prepared to hitch up his skirt if the price is right, so I think the ECB would literally bend over backwards (or forwards) to accomodate the IPL.
Only have to look out my window to see the biggest problem tho; it's ****ing lashing it down here today.
