If the first two Australian wins weren't convincing, what was SA coming from behind twice in Australia? You'd have to say two wins where you lead from pillar to post is slightly more convincing than that wouldn't you?

I don't think what happened in the third test of a 3 match series that's already been won should be used to define the series.
No no mate. SA totaly dominated every session of the tests here. They were just off their game in SA.

Under no circumstances must you ever, ever give Australia credit for the series they've just won. Or indeed any series or test they win.

You really ought to know better.

I didn't see Johnson's innings but I've always known he has some serious batting potential. What was his innings like, what kind of shot's was he playing. And does this now mean he will be batting higher in the ODI team, maybe six or seven.

I'm sorry mate, you're right. I forgot where I was for a moment. Blame it on a lack of sleep causing delusions. I was daydreaming I was in Common Sense Land.

Australia were lucky to win a game as far as I'm concerned. If it wasn't for Mitch Johnson's batting and McGain's bowling we wouldn't have been in any of the matches.

I'm pretty sure full strength SA > full strength AUS, I mean Mcgain the best spinner....? Also with Prince at the top their batting looks very very formidable, possibly on a par or even better than India's. Hussey's form is very worrying considering his age, would Lee make the team much stronger? Australia have too many questions when you look at performing in all conditions, though in a bilateral comp in Aus or SA it's always going to be close.
As of right now, SA need to find a 3rd seamer, possibly an opening batsman (Prince is nothing more than a band-aid at this stage) and in pretty short order will need another opening bowler and a keeper who can bat

In short, IMO, SA have missed the boat to become no. 1 and I'd back a full-strength Oz team to beat them 10 series out of 10 until they get some worthwhile replacements

Norths 160 runs in 4 innings with 1 century > Duminy's 143 in 6 with 1 fifty.

North bowled 38 overs taking 2 wickets @ 49, conceding 2.57 runs an over, compared to Duminy's 31 overs 1 wicket @ 111 going at 3.58 per over.

That side originally mentioned is spot on.

Duminy also got a number of vital catches.

Yes but North's grooming and deportment were superb.

About as relevant as the fact a few batsmen hit the ball in Duminy's direction, unless he's plucked numerous speccies.

Can't see us doing too well in the ODIs, the batting is just too out of form (although our recent away record is tops). Should be a fun series either way.

D/N's at Kingsmead and Newlands. Win the toss, bat = win. Remember the last time South Africa played Aus at Newlands under lights, it wasn't pretty...

Alright, I accept that North is marginally ahead of Duminy.

New question - team of the combined series (Aus + SA tours)

Smith
Katich
Ponting
Kallis
De Villiers
Duminy
Haddin
Johnson
Harris
Siddle
Steyn

Pretty much a choice between Ntini and Siddle for the forth bowlers spot. Ntini took vital wickets at important times, particularly in Aus. Yet I think Siddle had the more impressive summer.

Smith a shoe in from the Aus leg. Johnson and Steyn the pick of the bowlers. Harris by far the pick of the spinners. Duminy makes it easily from his heroics in Australia. De Villiers had quite a good summer in both legs. Kallis did much better at home than away, but was a million times better than Hussey. Clarke a bit unlucky to be left out though. Katich was solid in both legs but failed to set the world on fire. Haddin the pick of the keepers.

Why? After Jo'Burg he went MIA...

Agree with your side though.

I don't think Clarke should be allowed referrals. It zooms in on his tattoo which looks like someone has scribbled on his arm in felt-tip. It's a bad example to children.
