IPL to be shifted outside India

I dont know much about Indian politics. For how long has this election been scheduled to clash with the IPL?
Elections always happen at this time of the year every four years. So the IPL organisers, with a bit of common sense should have seen it coming.

Apparently, it is a costlier exercise than even the US presidential elections.

There goes the Lunar Premier League :(

Is it wrong I laughed out loud at that?

I think an IPL hosted in England would have far better gates than an SA based one, but the weather over here might mitigate against it. Been pretty mild last week tho, but that's "English mild" not mild per se.

Could split it, have some in SA and finish it off in England when the weather is slightly better, have the final at Lords. Not sure weather the players/broadcasters would be up for that though but you'd probably maximise your gate receipts doing that

Would love to see it come to England and be able to get along to see some of these matches. Certainly enough facilities in England to host it. Because of the big hitting fun and it being the best players in the world in it I want it to go a head but I do not see how the "INDIAN" premier league can be played outside of India. Although it does wonder for bringing the game to new people so I do still want to see it go ahead.

Do they? Will they not be being used for County games?

This is pretty short notice.

Injustices done to the ICL players by the BCCI is coming back to haunt it. I am happy that IPL filth is out of India. I hope someone can take Modi and keep him forever too.

IPL seeking the support of radical elements was the last straw for me and now it has challenged the authority of Indian government. As an Indian I am just apalled at their behaviour and attitude.

BJP, UPA engage in war of words over IPL
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi too waded into the IPL row saying it was a "national shame" that the second edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) had to be pushed out of the country.

Modi offered to hold all IPL matches in his state and provide tight security cover. "It is a shame that a powerful nation like India can't secure the IPL," the BJP stalwart said challenging the UPA government on the security issue.
I hate Narendra Modi so much. The biggest **** around (re his past history in Indian politics).

I guess you could probably manage it, because at any one time there must be some grounds going free. And it's only a T20 so I guess they can re-use pitches okay.

That said, I completely expect it to go to South Africa. They're much more friendly with the BCCI, and also I think Sky have some kind of exclusivity deal with the ECB over the home season. I don't think they'll want everyone watching the IPL on Setanta rather than England on Sky.

I dont think these issues will be overcome until 70% of education is achieved in India.

Education can only show the way to some extent. Much of the problems are written into the DNA in India. And in Pakistan too. Most of the terrorist masterminds, whether hindu or muslim are well educated and well employed ones. Religion is like a drug for those misguided souls.
