*Official* English Football Season 2008-2009

Pleased we're through, obviously. Football's a funny game as they say - two weeks ago in the San Siro we were superb, last night we were moderate at best. Two weeks ago we drew 0-0, last night it was a 2-0 win. I thought Giggsy was sublime and the defence was generally good, but our CM just wasn't at the races. Scholes, bless him, was gash, and Carrick wasn't much better. But job done, great result, now for Saturday lunchtime...

Oh, and Mirko Vučinić - worst penalty ever? Survey says...yes.

Does it matter that much? Not like you're lacking in goals scored. When you get a top drawer central defender then I'll take City's European hopes far more seriously, but at the moment it doesn't seem to be happening.

To start with, do you think someone like Bellamy is better than Villa?

Anyway, to the actual point. Whilst I agree, attacking talent isn't what we really need as it's honestly coming out of the woodwork, it's not just about that. It's a statement that needs to be made if we're ever going to go anywhere above 6th place and the Europa League. Robinho was huge but there were mitigating circumstances which dull his arrival and impact. If Villa trots out in blue, suddenly we're not a joke who provided a moody Brazilian his only escape (and 200k a week), we're an actual threat and really, an attractive option.

Good players want to play with Villa. If he ends up at City, the central defender will come. As will others.

An actual threat to what? Breaking into the "big ten"?

Anyway, Jose Mourinho's been accused of punching someone who chanted, "You're going home" to him after the match last night.

You can be likeable while punching someone in the face!
As many have already asserted today, it's debatable whether punching a Man Utd fan (who wasn't from Manchester, according to police) in the face is liable to decrease or increase one's popularity.

Betting it's all bollocks anyway, probably just some chav looking for attention.

Well, that was a clear penalty on Robinho not given. Still, 2-0 up at half time and clearly on top is good enough.
Just watching the highlights at HT. SWP's goal a little belter. Made it look effortless.

EDIT: Just saw Robinho non-pen. Looking for it too much for mine, but probably shoulda had one anyway.

Inter completely deny anything happened. Maybe they're right or maybe they're just taking a leaf out of the PCB's book and going with the "lalala we're not listening" approach to dealing with incidents.

Haa, yea. Both of them seemed to go missing, but at the same time they did dominate Inter Milan mid-field, weird no doubt...
