Amazing day, unless we collapse horribly batting second time around the series should be ours.
Yeah from Steyn's bouncers to Hussey early on it's been breathless stuff. Just a shame we didn't get a full days play, could have had a century for JP. His played a blinder so far...

I think he's prove that if you keep bowling bouncers to a player who's poor against them, they'll eventually become good against them.

Captain Smith is defo out of the 3rd test according to SuperSport so Ashwell Prince can just walk back into the side with a shuffle of the order but the South African selectors might as well ditch Neil Mac as well. His done **** all against Aus away and now at home and time South Africa’s next home season rolls around he will be 34. Just a shame Elgar is not having a good series. Imraan Khan is the form man but last time I saw him he was as limited as they come.

Injury to Tsotsobe and sentiment will probably see Ntini kept around until his 100th test (currently on 98) and his not many away from 400 test wickets but in all honesty he should be pensioned off as well.

. We shall have to call him Makhaya Bonaparte then...

Why are we still bowling McDonald? His served his purpose...
He's a champ. So accurate and pegs batsmen back, even if he does look like he won't get them out. He'll probably be tailenders' worst nightmare though; I can see him cleaning up well.

McDonald bowling well again.

Looks too geeky to be an Australian cricketer, would have fitted into Vettori's NZ side perfectly well.
Of course, because the likes of Ponting, Stuart Clark, Haddin, Katich & head-band Bracken are such cool-looking guys right

McDonald fits in just fine IMO

What's wrong with Stuart Clark?

He's never going to make a male model but if you think guys who look like that are geeky what hope do any of us on the forum have...

Are you serious?

That looks like a guy who was programming C++ at 12 and managed to come up with a sorting algorithm with time complexity better than O (n log n).

This series so far has been almost an exact replica as our home leg, except this time with us winning the big moments (so far).

1st Test - South Africa chasing 454 - same as Perth
2nd Test - South Africa trailing way behind our first innings with only Duminy and the tail left - same as Melbourne

That's a nice black-&-white universe you've got there. McDonald and Clark may both be geeks, but Mac is the Apple user of the two.

Same black & white world you live in if your original comment on the matter is anything to go by :p

Loved McDonald's call at the presser. He was asked something about the aggression of the team and how positive they were:

"Yeah, well I think two wickets in the first over helps a bit".

Gold.

Have to say that Johnson today was scary. Not "quick", not "quite sharp" as Lawry says when someone lets one go at 150 kph, but scary. As good as he was early, that last over before tea to Boucher was something special. What a working over that was.

For my money, if we roll them, no follow on. Talk was Sidz is not at 100%, and of course, if we do roll them that early, there will still be virtually 3 days to go. Can still see this breaking up some, provided it doesn't rain too much over the next few days - plenty of cracks on it and I wouldn't want to bat last, personally.

BARNES OUT
South African commentary formula:

IF (South African player going well), talk non-stop about that player.
ELSE, rubbish the skill of the opposition no matter the situation.
