No he hasn't, Katich was the one dropped the first time.

Hughes for Hayden seems such a great thing ATM. Hayden was in a rough run of form and possibly a bit too old for the selectors to back him anymore. If he stayed on though, he showed throughout his career that he was a fighter and could bounce back when the chips were down.
