Err this is essentially the same bowling attack that played in NZ and started off this past summer at Lords with the only exception being Swann in for Panesar.

It has really started bothering me for a while now, but what is with Anderson's obsession with bowling away swingers to left handers? We all know that he can get the ball to swing in as he has bowled some amazing away swingers to right handers but we saw this routinely during the summer against the likes of Smith and co and it was particularly frustrating because we all know about Smith's weakness to ball swinging into his pads. This is a weakness that many left handers suffer from and it is particularly annoying to see someone who is capable of bowling those kind of deliveries continue to bowl away swingers as their stock delivery and the inswinger as a shock delivery.

Not to try to be wise here, but England just played India in their backyard and performed rather admirably. England is a fairly capable side, when they actually pick the right players, which has rarely happened over the last few years. Personally, I think it is a joke that Harmison isnt playing because you dont go from being good enough to not being good enough in the space of 1 game on a wicket where everyone struggled to take wickets. FFS, either give him a decent run in the side or dont pick him at all.

I don't like this reversal thing... it just seems a bit off somehow for lbw's.

Yeah I always prefer to see a right-arm bowler (especially one - unlike Dale Steyn for example - who can hit a good line to LHBs) attempt the inswinger at LHBs if they can bowl both things.
If he's going to bowl the outswinger, he should be around-the-wicket.

Looked a bit like it was going down leg side in real time, but on the replay looks like a good decision. Probably a result of logic prevailing and Anderson deciding to finally bowl more inswingers at Gayle.

I hate the idea of player referrals full-stop, but the correct decision there was out. No doubts about.

That was a no ball wasn't it? Although taking the referral rules into account - I'm not sure you can overturn the none no ball call.
To be fair a great shout - my first impression was that it was well down leg.
Is this what the referral system is for though? The decision was right don't get me wrong, but is the system designed for those sort of appeals?

That was a no ball hence it can't be out. Nothing behind the line when the ball was released.

No, you certainly can. However, the rule is that the foot has to have some part behind the line as it lands, not as the ball is delivered.
Anderson's foot - just - did that.
As David Gower is now confirming as I write this.

isn't the law about where your foot lands and Anderson's landed behind the line but slid over so it wasn't a no ball?

As I say, it's when the foot lands, not when the ball's released, that counts.
The ball was hitting the stumps, no-ball or ball.
