SAGGERS CLAIMS 'I'M TOO OLD"!!!

At the Age of 36 Kent fast bowler Martin Saggers has today announced his retirement from World Club Cricket. At a small press conference on Sunday morning Saggers told the waiting media that he felt that fast bowling at his age was getting too much in such a tough competition. He said "WCC is the toughest club competition in the world, this isn't an old mans sport." Saggers has been a loyal servant to Kent and will be best remembered around there for his season 1 one day performances where he took a season high 20 wickets in 9 matches.

Saggers has been a great contributor for Kent, in 17 First Class performances he has taken 63 wickets @ 33.13 with a best of 4/30 earlier this season. In One Day cricket he has played 16 matches for 27 wickets @ 28.67 with a best of 5/83 last year.

YORKSHIRE EXODUS CONTINUES

Just a couple of months after star batsman Michae Vaughan announced his retirement, team mate Craig White has joined him in calling it stumps. At 39 years old and with good performances fading it's no surprise that White has retired before he suffered the likely indignity of being cut by his club. At this mornings press conference White stated that he was proud of the past two seasons with Yorkshire that included the one day title in division one last year and the chance to go back to back is still driving him. As a keen camper and fisher White said he looks forward to his time away from cricket and will be spending most of his time away from the game in the next year or so before considering further oppourtunities in the game.

White's first class career has been very disapointing, in 11 matches he has scored 372 runs @ 23.25 with only two fifties and taken just 21 wickets @ 41 which did include an impressive 7/70 last year. He has been just as poor if not worse in one day cricket where in 12 matches he has scored 155 runs @ 19.38 with only one fifty and taken a very poor 8 wickets @ 70, half of those coming in a single performance of 4/39.

You can never have too many spinners. We have Murali, Leigh, Samaraweera and Fernando, plus JP and Raza if required. But we still would have taken Appleton and Warakagoda.

INJURED RAMPRAKASH CALLS IT QUITS

Warwickshire captain Mark Ramprakash has retired at the age of 39 due to persistent injuries. The middle order batsman released a short statement on Thursday morning indicating that while treatment for his injured neck was going well he saw no point in risking permanant damage to his body. Since the problem arose six weeks ago he has seen two managers leave the club but he stated that new manager Brendon Goff is the right man for the job. Ramprakash has said he is hoping to get back on the park after next weeks one day match, he said he will also make himself available for the combined England/South African team for the All Star series if he has recovered in time.

Ramprakash has been one of Warwickshire's stand out batsman in WCC, in his 15 First Class matches he has scored 1255 runs @ 44.82 and in one day cricket he has played 16 games for 479 runs @ 43.55. With stats like these it's obvious he will leave a massive gap in the Warwicks middle order.

Its dissapointing to see Ramps retire, but was expected to be honest...

As for young Kirkman, it was a tough decision however we feel that he won't fit into our plans for next season so we will pass. We wish him well..
