Calm down. It's their first test in 14 months, a bunch of new faces in the squad, they'll take a while to get settled down. Sure, they were poor today but have some faith, this Pak team does have a bit of talent.

The curator had played in to Lankan's hands. They should have prepared a geen, bouncy track, to get their new boys with best chance. What ever happens, Pakistan will have 2 spinners. But SL could not have 3 seamers with current setup unless Matthews is selected to play at #6 (which is a risky choice at his age).

yea was really surprised that the wicket wasn't more seamer friendly. Granted that Pakistan's batting is no better than the SL, but Pakistan have much better seam bowlers and it would have nullified Murali and Mendis.
The reason SL have done so well in Pakistan previously, is because our collection of FTB could plod along on these dead wickets get >400 and let Murali do the rest. Same script, but now Murali and Mendis to deal with.

There's quite a lot there for Kaneria to work with i thought. It's funny how he can be pretty accurate and turn the ball miles while still being innocuous. In terms of the bowlers playing in this match, it's turning to a dangerous extent for sure. But it could be a touch too slow.

Sure it will be a turner by Day 3. But now it hardly looks a pitch which is "omigosh" for the batsmen.
And it's not a ripper turner but more of same bounce turn, which skilled subcontinental batsman thrive upon.

Dunno about that when Murali and Mendis are bowling. It's definitely something for a good spinner to work with.
The pitch is hardly "a joke". It's difficult to take wickets on at the moment but you shouldn't be going at 4.5 runs an over for an entire day. I've seen much, much flatter.

Maybe so, but if it is it's not one of the funnier ones I've seen. It's not like the Chennai road a year ago that probably had the groundsman sniggering himself to sleep for weeks.

Sorry I disagree. There is absolutely not a single thing on the pitch that can put doubts in the batsmen's mind. This pitch is perhaps the flattest thing I've seen in a while, and it is no way good for test cricket.
The pitch will become slower and lower as the days progress. I feel, Sri Lankans have already done 50% work needed for a win. A total of 550+ on this pitch can pressurise Pakistanis into committing mistakes.
