Days of Grace

International Captain
If you want a team for all conditions, Murali is the only logical choice, imo.

And I can't believe Wasim wasn't added to this. I would have given him serious consideration.

It's quite conceivable that either Warne or Murali will never be called up to bowl in this side, the first four bowlers may have already done the job before he's needed.

I voted for Murali, given that there is little that McGrath can offer that is not covered by Imran, Marshall, and Hadlee.
McGrath was a different kind of fast bowler to those three. I'd be happy to have a 4-pronged seam attack featuring that lot, plus Warne.

On the other hand, having Warne and Murali alongside those 3 great quicks would be amazing. Still haven't decided.

I also have some sympathy for those who feel Wasim should be included. Marshall, Hadlee, Wasim, Warne, Murali would make the most complete bowling attack imaginable but the loss of Imran would weaken the batting.

Hmmm.

If Murali is included, the post-Packer XI will arguably have a worse pace attack than a particular one which the West Indies fielded in the 80s. Not using that as an argument against his inclusion- in truth i'm quite torn- but it's interesting.

Not if Hutton and Hanif were opening for a post WW2 - Packer XI.

Then it would be upto Murali and Warne. Assuming Murali is selected of course.

Other than Warne there are 3 other bowlers. It's unlikely they'll finish the job.

I`m Shocked Imran Nazir isn`t included, off course you guys won`t agree he is my favourite player. keep an eye on him if he gets another chance in inetrnational cricket he will dominate he + Imran Farhat.

If you dont agree he is best watch this movie you will change your mind quickly

It would be interesting to see who would like a spinner vs a pacer for this last spot. It's my guess that pace is the most preferred option but the many pace options split the vote.

McGrath wasn't terribly different from Hadlee, regardless of who is better.

Regarding Wasim, he's a strange case. His stats aren't as impressive as other great fast bowlers, but nearly every batsman of the 90s would rate Wasim as the best pace bowler. He certainly was the most talented, of that there's no doubt.

Three all-time great pacers should be enough.

the side has pretty good batting line-up

the bowling line up is pretty useful too with Marshall, Hadlee and Imran as quicks and Warne as the spinner. the attack needs someone like Ambrose or Murali .... Murali wins it in the end to give the side more versatility in bowling

Murali's leading but TBF I'd vote for any of the above apart from Botham over Murali. If one of the other many candidates get close I'll vote for them. There's little need for two spinners IMO.

Votes for Lillee seem to be a bit of a waste imo, as he will waltz into the pre-packer side.

People who think the side needs another pacer should vote for either Ambrose or McGrath.

I went for the outsider in Kallis as his inclusion will balance the side more IMO.

If no Kallis, I would then go for Ambrose, McGrath, Muralitharan in that order.

The last player I would pick for a post-Packer World XI would be Cameron White.
