Why not add our boys to the list?

Ryder
Oram
Styris
Franklin (still recovering)

Heck of a team that would be.
No doubt - as I said, I'm not really trying to make excuses as I'm aware NZ is in the same boat, just saying its freaking crap how many of our first XI are out at the moment. Watto aside, we've probably been reasonably spoiled in recent years.

Haha yeah, I don't like it much either come to think of it could get really bogged down. Might replace Katich with Quiney.
With Roy and Ashley in the dressing room, I'm sure they'll help keep team dynamics on an even keel...

Days of Grace

International Captain
McCullum (wk)
Ryder
Guptill
Taylor
Styris
Oram
Broom
Franklin
Vettori
Mills
Patel/Southee

For India, hopefully. Gun team.

Days of Grace

International Captain
btw, not sure whether I would have Elliott or Broom in that team tbh.

Elliott would be ideal coming in at 150/5. Broom ideal coming in at 200/5.

Not Terrible
Ryder
McCullum (wk)
Guptill
Taylor
Broom
Oram
Elliott
Mills
Vettori
Patel/Southee
O'Brilliant

My lineup.
Won't put Franklin in till he's back at full fitness and O'Brien has been good this far.

Aus team should IMO be:

Hopes
Jaques
Clarke
Voges/Ferguson
Hussey D
Hussey M
Haddin
Noffke
Johnson
Bracken
Hilfenhaus

White doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the team IMO. Hopes should open. Jaques should get some time in the middle at least while Ponting is out. Playing five bowlers (including Hopes) caters to our strength rather than our weakness. Noffke is also good enough to be considered an all-rounder.

Once Ponting comes back drop Voges/Ferguson/D Hussey for Punter and shuffle the middle order down one.

You could also drop Hilfenhaus for either Heal or Hauritz if necessary.

Jaques opening is actually a very good call - would give him the chance to get some more cricket into him ahead of the SA and England tours, and he's done well in the past - having him as match fit as possible can only be a good thing.

Hopes
Jaques
Clarke
Haddin
White
Hussey, M
Hussey, D
Johnson
Bracken
Siddle
Tait

With Dussey or White to make way for Ponting, with Clarke going back to 4 and so on...

Yeah okay. Klinger being a specialist opener in One Day cricket...
Specialist top order batsmen imo. You could have anyone in that top 3 bat at three. Went for Katich at the top cus he has experience and Quiney cus he scores faster. You wouldn't want two slighty defensive batsmen at the top of the order.

The problem with picking Katich is that he's quite poor at ODI cricket.

Has to play the anchor role with no 2nd gear. Might be ok as a very temporary measure but leave him for tests IMO.

I could live with this side. I would be happier with Noffers in for Siddle, since Siddle is going to SA anyway and he'd strengthen our lower order batting.

I guess averaging 35 in ODIs is classified as being poor. Would be the perfect straight replacement for Marsh, who plays the same role. He got a 2nd gear just watch him play Twenty20.
