Simon Katich gives Michael Clarke what he deserves

Perhaps because it was their first match of 2009?

And is 11 PM that late in the night to say "I wanna go home now"??
It's not ridiculously late, but neither it is party-poopingly early either. And it is a match in his home city, where he might have the chance to see friends etc. If he was in Perth, or O/S no doubt he'd want to stick around with his team mates.

I was the same when I used to work away from home - would stick around til the end of any party or bar night with the boys, apart from the times when work brought me back home; then I'd made a bit of an effort to go along to work team drinks or whatever, but pull the pin earlier to go and try and keep my other connections going as well. It's not an unreasonable thing to do IMO, given how much these guys are away.

Well the song was only sung after midnight so who knows how long they went for. Clarke had already been there for hours, so I don't see why wanting to leave is hold the bloke by the neck type of stuff.
:-O I'll choke you for saying that!!! :@

I guess there is more to it than just a drunk Katman wanting to get at Clarke for such a stupid reason. Clarke wanting to leave, but Katman playing reverse-bouncer just doesn't sound right.

Or maybe because I am smittehed with Katich.

Get the sense that maybe Clarke wanting to leave might be what started the argument, but that some other things must have been said or done between that and the chokehold, because otherwise that's some serious insanity on Katich's part.

Or maybe he's just got angry little hairy man syndrome...

Maybe because there was something more to it than "what, you want to leave now, I'm going to strangle you"

Rumoured bust-ups in the last year

Lee and Clarke

Symonds and Clarke

Katich and Clarke

Notice a pattern?

Yeah this is the most likely possibility considering the given version of the incident.

What was the Lee- Clarke thing? First I've heard about it. There was also th Martyn Hayden bust up rumour right before he retired. The link here is obviously massive, massive egos.

It was Lee and Ponting if i am not wrong, anyways and the bust-up with Symonds had nothing personal to it, Symonds was punished by the team-management and CA, and Clarke certainly isn't controlling them.

IMO, bust-ups take place in most teams, but such things only take prominence when the team isn't doing well, people like Warne, Gilchrist, S.Waugh, have all had problems with each other, but just because they were winning, it all really didn't matter much.

Remember reading something claiming they hadn't got on, and the 'evidence' for that appeared to be that Lee's wife had gone to Clarke's engagement thing on her own. In retrospect there would seem to be other explanations.

Ah, thought it might have involved a fight over who used all the peroxide and hair gel... :)
