Symonds sent home

What I find funny is how this was done on the most politically incorrect radio station in the country. I mean a few days before they were going on about needing to introduce gambling to the young and putting slot machines into schools to help stimulate the economy

Symonds is a bit of a jerk, but it was a beauty of a call on a show like that.

Yeah, I love anonymous tough-guys (obviously, I know Heath, but you get my point) throwing around insults towards international players - and no, not having a crack at you, BB, as you don't seem to think he is a ****. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one on here who knows Bazza in any capacity more than just a "hi, can I have your autograph". I haven't seen or spoken to him in six years, but he's not a ****, he's actually a pretty nice guy.

I don't like that attitude - it's just an excuse to allow you to act like a moron without repercussions. It acts as a get-out-of-being-an-idiot clause, which wouldn't work in any other endeavor.
Hmm, i'm quite happy with it. Especially in terms of international cricketers rather than people you know. It just makes the whole thing more entertaining IMO.

Well, obviously to each his own, but childish antics by cowards don't really do it for me. I'm not sure if you like ice hockey, but if this was ice hockey and rules allowed players to get to get into actual fights on the field, I'd be fine with it. But it seems hollow to keep throwing insults and cowardly hide behind the fact that nothing's going to come of it, and therefore you can be a moron with reckless abandon. Trying that stuff in ice hockey is going to make a chicklet dispenser out of your mouth pretty soon.

Fights like these, or even one punch knockouts like this.

You see the referees moderating the fight? Love to see a Billy Bowden mediating a brawl. When something like that is allowed, that's when I'd be fine with petulant cricketers acting the way they do.

I don't see too many "childish" or "cowardly" acts from McCullum. He's just a bit intense and possibly unfriendly on the field (and gets pissed off when things go against him).

AWTA w.r.t the likes of Sreesanth.

Spot the American.

"Things are alright if we can fights, lol"
Well, nah. Either shut up or legalize fights. I'd prefer the former, but if you must act the way you do, then let's have fights. Seems cowardly, hollow and pointless otherwise to keep talking.

Don't know anything about McCullum's general antics, except for the most recent incident. Was speaking regarding the general attitude of what happens on the field, stays on the field.

Linking to those ice-hockey fights is just about the dumbest thing you have ever done SS.

Like seriously seriously stupid. What does that prove?

Commentary was a joke too. If you're going to have fights in cricket, may as well get Jim Ross to start commentating in place of Mark Nicholas.

Haha, nah. Really starting to love ice hockey fights TBH. I'd much rather see a 20 second fight and have it be over than weeks of protracted whining after an incident. Be ready to put up or shut up.

I kinda doubt the incident would be over if some 6' 6" Oz quick goads some Indian superstar prospect into fisticuffs and breaks his jaw. Though the ad money that guy could make with the orthodontics industry would be massive.

Haha, well the incidents aren't over now, at least I'd be entertained by it. Next time I bet he wouldn't lose his temper so easily. Would love to see boxing lessons incorporated into the cricket training regimen. :p

Surely this guy cannot tour South Africa.

a) he has no form whatsoever

b) he is hell bent on being a bad ass - his IPL contract has only emboldened him in this regard

c) he's like a cancer in a team that needs older heads to show the way.

With Maher, to my mind, sometimes being a friend means being honest with them - rather than defending them. A real friend would be honest with Symonds.
Maher comes out with some bizarre comments though, doesn't he. I remember once him saying Shane Watson should drink more beer to help him get over his injuries.

I mean, I think one should be pretty ruthless and unemotional about these things, and just pick the best cricket playing XI that you have for each Test match. But, even by that standard, I don't think Symonds measures up - given the care factor he has; his current form; and the corrosive influence that he has.

He's an Australian with Irish ancestry. I imagine he advocates brushing his teeth with beer.
