Doesn't get said enough for mine, but really missing Brad Hogg.
Well that's true, but Australia still picked Hauritz in the squad as the spinner, the bloke was made to sit on the bench after the SCG test and since only played in the last ODI, eventhough he got whacked around in the powerplay overs, he bowled decently enough for a bloke who didn't play a match for that long, i think there was a real case of playing him consistently in this series, especially considering the kind of strangle hold the opposition spinners have had over the Aussies.

He keeps on failing, for one.
They should try batting him in the top-order, where he belongs, because everyone is not a Mike Hussey to bat as a top order bat for most of your time in domestic cricket, and then mould himself into batting at no.7 with ease in international, White is clearly not comfortable batting that low and no point in making him bat that low time and again.

Aus need to take a verrrrry good look at themselves after this series with SA and make some major changes, and not just with players.
Get off a 45 minute flight to a different country and alas nothing has changed

It's all very well to say that "oh, if it wasn't for the injuries, we'd be ok" BUT the fact is that the majority of management practices, selection policies and players have been average to woeful for a considerable amount of time

Unfortunately, it's a gravy train so none will go willingly but now is the time to clean out the dead wood/incompetents and build for the future

Mate, then that would mean one of the top guys have to move down. I don't think that sends out a positive image all the more because White has hardly done anything to preserve his ODI spot.

Aye, the first name on that list being Andrew Symonds. He has done his max to distrub the harmony in the team.

Haha, what exactly were you expecting to change in 45 minutes?

Get rid of him if you like but also get rid of the fwits who allowed the situation to get so out of hand

Also have a look at our injury list - you cannot tell me that the team responsible for the physical conditioning, management and rehabilitation of the players are doing a good job when basically a whole team sits on the sidelines

Whatever. I'll be really surprised if I see Australia winning matches on a consistent basis with Symonds figured therein.

I disagree. Brad Hodge has a phenomenal List A record, has bucket loads of experience and spins the ball more than White. I feel the selectors (this issue in hindsight) have missed a trick by not picking him.

There is a place for Hopes in the team, I agree. But I think it's best to use him at the top of the order to open so we can use specialists in the middle in case of a collapse. Time has shown that bits and pieces will not get you through a heavy situation (even with his 40 odd today).

In terms of bowling, because of the quality of the bowling is not great with specialists like Tait and Johnson, we need 4 specialist bowlers to make up for that. In the times of a fit and firing McGrath and Lee you could probably get away with 3 and then Hopes plus part timers, but now you can't but if one gets carted then you're left with rubbish.

I just don't understand, the formula of 7 bats and 4 bowlers has worked for 15 years of world dominance, why now in this time of need change it to 5.5 bats and 3 bowlers.

Again its no good picking Hodge and making him bat at 6 or 7 and its pretty clear that Aussie selectors are not keen on picking him either.

I rate Warner' talent but there is no way he should have been part of the ODI side yet, and it would have been much better had Hopes been opening the batting, because that would have clearly give Australia the luxury of playing an extra bowler.

Selecting a good squad is one thing, but picking the right players and assigning them with the right roles as important and that's where Australia have failed pretty badly, right through this series, this is the sort of team composition would have made a lot more sense:

1.Marsh
2.Hopes
3.Ponting
4.White
5.Dussey
6.Mussey
7.Haddin
8.Johnson
9.Harris/Hauritz
10.Bracken
11.Tait/Hilfenhaus

Sorry, but had to chuckle at the 'c'mon aussie c'mon c'mon' song blasting through the speakers - what terrible timing
