AB De Villiers

With an average of 36.52 and a strike rate of 84.6 as a batsman, 15 catches as a wicketkeper (in spite of Boucher being there in the same National team) and with brilliant athleticism as a fielder AB De Villiers comes with a lot of options in my team. He can bat anywhere from positions 1 to 6, but in my team he will probably open the innings (which is his favorite batting position in ODIs of late) with Haynes. A devastating strokemaker, he will be a perfect partner of Haynes at the top of the order. If not (i.e., if I want someone else to open later), he can fit in at no. 3 or no. 5 too. His wicket-keeping skills are more than decent too (In fact many South African fans want him to keep once Boucher retires). So, later if I don't find a suitable keeper, he will be the wicket-keeper in my team, and that will provide me with the option of picking an extra batsman in the team.

Team so far:

AB De Villiers
Desmond Haynes
Javed Miandad
Chris Cairns
Curtly Ambrose
Courtney Walsh
Muttiah Muralitharan

The batting line-up is slowly but surely becoming a great and varied one with batsmen from different backgrounds, different skill sets and different approaches to the game joining in, to complement a devastating bowling line-up...

International 12th Man
Abdul Qadir

Every good ODI team needs a spinner who can keep it tight in the middle overs but it's a true bonus if they are also a wicket taking threat. Qadir bowled at a stingy 4.06 economy rate whilst also taking 132 wickets at an average of 26.16. His lower order biffing (ave 15.26, sr 75.50) is also handy.

Going to go with Roger Twose, will bat at about 5 or 6 in this team. With an ODI career average of 38.81 and a strike rate of 75.4 he seems like a decent enough player

Ha, for the first time in this draft, I've actually done some research before making a pick... 20 mins to go.

Long enough - and after saying that ^, I throw my research out and take Brad Hodge. In any other country, or in any other era, would have played a stack more games, and starred.

Team so far:
Gilchrist
-
Hodge
-
S. Waugh
-
Kapil Dev
Hogg
-
Bond
Tait

I select a quality cricketer that never quite achieved what he could have done.

He never quite cemented a top tier career but, IMO, he was good, tall, honest and skilled performer.

^^ haha - there's some poetic justice for you at least - I thought of Martyn yesterday and was going to pick him, but completely forgot about that tonight - so my selection actually only makes sense if you'd made this pick before me like was meant to happen...
