My Take on the game.

Sri Lanka batting was loose any side that gives 4 wickets to Rao deserved to be hammered.

Shoaib looked rusty and it could be possible that he might have lost it permanently now, I say gave him 3 games in this series if he dosen't perform get Sohail Khan in and see how he copes up.

Gul is now surely our #1 seamer bowled with good pace too.

Manzoor looked short of international quality against the seamers, handled the spinners well so maybe there can be a case of him shifting down the order and let the aggressor Nasir Jamshed open with Butt.

Butt looked classy, wish he can be more consistent, I have hopes of him re-emerging like Gambhir still long way to go.

Malik's captaincy again looked clueless got lucky due to Lanka's reckless batting he allows the game to drift a lot.

Sohail Khan is the best fast bowler in Pakistan these days. His reverse swing will remind you all the great Waqar Younas.

Manzoor is surely not a class act. He does not deserve to be in the side at any position in any format of the game.

Malik has never impressed anybody except our selectors and the cricket board. Let's see for how long he goes.

Butt can never become Gambhir. Gambhir is definitely a better batsman and performer.

One random odi victory does not gloss over the fact that the current Pakistan side is very ordinary.Just look at our issues.

Our best batsman cant play for us.

Out of our two best bowlers one is serving a ban while the other is on his final legs.

The Keeper cant even catch a cold.

Our main spinner is a joke his first wicket comes after he has conceded over 100 runs.

No settled opening pair yet.

We continue to play mediocre talents like Rao, Tanvir when genuine talent like Talha and Sohail Khan are still waiting for their chances.

Till these problems are eradicated I don't see Pakistan challenging top 4.

Problem lies with the selectors not the talent. I agree with you on many issues you mentioned. We are unable to work out why Rao is in the side. He failed to deliver even in the first class and other domestic matches.

Captaincy is another issue. Sohail Khan should be in the side immediately. Talha needs to be in the side but on the bench. He needs experience. He would be world class fast bowler some day. Keeping in view the bowling strength, Pakistan need to focus on fast bowling.

Kaneria is ok for tests whereas Afridi is doing a fairly good job in ODIs.

Is Sri Lanka still going to be playing 3 tests, or has the ODI schedule with India screwed that up?

Playing 2 test in feb but in between Sri Lanka playing India at home, i dont see why they had to reduce the tests though as both SL or Pak dont have any other commitments

Till these problems are eradicated I don't see Pakistan challenging top 4.

Haha I reckon that is a big call, Pakistan will always be a challenging team even when they are below their best as they currently are. The top 4 title is also up for grabs really, I'd have placed Sri Lanka tied with England 4th in Test matches and in ODI's the top 4 are all quite fluid at the moment with NZ probably nosing their way in ahead of the previously mentioned teams.

Can't wait till next time we play Pakistan.

He was painful to watch against the quicks early on. Excruciatingly so, in fact. Played Murali and Mendis very well (before getting out to Murali with the match in the bag), which was encouraging.

Looked all at sea against the mediocre seamers but was very confident against the two master spinners.

Yeah but around 12 -18 months back Gambhir was in the same boat, when Butt make runs he looks as world class as any one but the problem is his inconsistency.
