Not Terrible
SA's tour is really turning bad, just like the English one. Will the lynching mobs be at the airport when they return? I know how much their fans love this form of the game, they won't be pleased. They obviously lack the depth to replace the likes of Ntini and Smith. Albie Morkel is atrocious.
WTF they won the Tests and then lost two T20's and this match isn't even over with many more to come.

No.

Albie Morkel is a fair way short of being an ODI opening bowler, but even given that and the fact that he has terrible figures, I actually thought he bowled okay today.

I suppose that emphasises the point though - when you bowl well and still go for sevens without the batsmen taking too many risks, you're not up to the job. Even so though, to call his "atrocious" based on four overs when he's primarily a batsman is a bit harsh.
Exactly he should be sent back to domestic cricket and he can earn his money in the IPL where he belongs. Such a short arse compared with his sibling.

I'm serious, Botha looks like some sort of Hollywood villain.

I just don't know which movie I recognise him from.

That, or Nathan Brown from the Bulldogs, wtvr.

Ponting's luck runs out. Hope Marsh goes on, his stroke over cover off Botha before was the best shot of the day thus far easily.

Nah, I think he should be in the team. He definitely shouldn't be opening the bowling but I like him as an allrounder.

Won't need anymone, going to spank tons in each of the 4 remaining matches imo. Still reckon Botha's action looks shocking.

Yeah, think he can fulfil a role at 7 or so. Although playing him with Kallis leaves you a tad short of an out-and-out bowler, in my opinion.

EDIT: Haven't seen Kallis bowl in One Day cricket in a while; how long has he been bowling so many slower balls for?

See, I reckon he definitely has a bent arm, but it stays bent the whole way through, rather than actually extending it.

Was never realistic for Hopes and Marsh to open the batting together. With the greatest respect to those gentlemen, they are the least credentialed chaps amongst our top 7. Thus, they shouldn't be granted the opportunity to swallow up the bulk of the 50 overs. Mussey, although he failed in this particular innings, is by contrast one of our better ODI players.

The jury is out on Albie. We keep hearing about his big hitting but he holes out early in his innings. Is he smart enough to realise that everyone has to get their eye in to some extent? The Morkels don't appear to be the brightest bulbs in the chandeliers.

Botha doing a good job so far on tour. Hopefully he doesn’t get called anytime soon for his becoming pretty reliable.

I'd be using both him and Boucher in the middle order, then Botha at 8 and three quicks - ie. one more bowler than this team currently has.

From what I've seen, that's because he ends up having to hit from the get-go in his role, which is always something difficult to do.

Refer to A. Symonds (early career) and C. White.
