Cricket team draft

Ah damn, I wrote up a big writeup and pressed copy but it lost all the data, so annoying.

Basically what I said/want to say is that there has been heaps of great choices recently, many who I wanted.

I ended up deciding that I needed a champion bowler who could bat a bit, so basically a bowling all rounder as my numbers 9 to 11 aren't that good with the bat.
I've gone for Maurice Tate.

An average of 26 with the ball and 25 with the bat is a very good effort. His first class career is astonishing, Over 20 000 runs and 25 000 wickets at an average of 18, amazing.

So my side is now.
1 AR Morris
2
3 RS Dravid
4 SR Tendulkar
5 GS Sobers
6
7
8 MW Tate
9 JC Laker
10 FS Trueman
11 CA Walsh

He was above statham on the top of my list for my third bowler. Was clearly the best bowler in the world in his day and commonly rated as the best since Barnes. My only concern would be how guys like Viv, Sachin, or Gilchrist would treat his medium pace on covermed pitches.

Every pick at this stage is someone I wanted. :)

Big thanks to Heath and Jamee for doing my selections whilst I was away. :) I am back now so am able to do the final few selections myself. I actually had second thoughts about Macartney but I'm pleased now that I've got him. I don't think Thompson's a bad pick either at this stage of the draft.

Will the research take more then an hour? If you want a spin bowling all rounder. Think English and lots of FC wickets. ;)

If you're thinking of the namesake of a brilliant 90's fielder, yes he was one of my picks to go alongwith Faulkner. I'm now looking for one more player to get my two picks in.

Okay, but if you pick the other player I'm currently 50-50 on, I'm going to hope the bed bugs bite you.

My pick - Wilfred Rhodes

What an awesome pair he and Faulkner would have made *sigh*

Decided to sort out the last two 'specialist' spots in squad with Justin Langer and Ian Chappell. Both of their overall records might not look as great as some, but as openers and No 3 respectively they both averaged 50 odd.

Both add a lot to fielding side and slip cardon in particular. JL might end up under the lid depending on my next couple picks. But Chappelli, Llyod, Kallis in slips and JL and Hutton in gullies looks pretty decent to me.

Also means the next two picks can just be the best batsmen and bowler left.

**** me, I was tossing up between Chappel and Boon, went with Boon cause he opens.

Was looking at Langer a few rounds back as well.
