Tallest cricketers

Nah, fairly certain Fulton is a couple of centimetres taller than Oram.
I'm absolutely confident that Oram is the tallest current Black Cap.

ftr, Oram listed himself as, quote, "2 metres exactly" (6'7") in a profile in the 2004/05 season (and also stated his weight as 110kg/242lbs/over 17 stone, which must make him about the biggest cricketer in the world atm). Fulton has been referred to as 197cm/6'5 1/2" in those little player profiles they put out each year in the pre-season preview magazine you find in the Sunday Star-Times.

But my reason is just from looking at them together and next to other players.

Paul Renton Dunkels - played once for Sussex in 1972 - legend has it he was 6'10" - apparently became a barrister - can you help with any further details Mr Z?

Oram is taller than Fulton.
Fulton is not 2m, he is about 195cm, the two metre connotations with him came from Peter Sharpe during commentary with "two metre" rhyming better with Peter than 195 centimetre Peter.

I just saw a pic in Craig McMillan's book of the 1997/98 NZ team. It was a full body, full squad shot giving a fair idea of height.

The extraordinary thing was Shayne O'Connor looked about 6'8" or 6'9". He was enormous, absolutely towering over 6'3ish guys like Cairns and Doull.

I don't remember O'Connor being unusually tall, he never had that lumbering gait that those around 6'6" and up have.

The other funny thing was Daniel Vettori, just turned 19, was only around 6', which I've heard before (Danny Morrison once commented that Vettori was 5'11" when he debuted for NZ). Quite extraordinary that a guy can play international cricket about 4 inches short of his full grown height.

Even more extraordinary that, at the age of 19, someone still has that much growing to do.

Not really most males don't stop growing well into their early 20's. If Vettori was a chick though, it would be quite extraordinary indeed.

Hmm, can't remember so much as one of my mates getting noticeably bigger since we've left college. I myself had grown about all I was going to by the age of 15 - I still easily fit all clothes (of those which are still intact) that I fitted then. I still fit some stuff that I had at the age of 12 or 13.

This is sort of true but sort of not.

It's relatively common for a guy to experience a small increase in height from about age 17-23, but generally guys are within an inch of their full height by 16/17.

Yeah half the guys I know stopped completely and the other half are still growing, just saying its hardly uncommon for someone to grow into their early twenties.

I remember being amazed by Jason Gillespie's height when I saw him in real life, he towered over everyone else on the field.

Haven't grown in height since I was about 18, it's fair to say my clothes don't fit me though...

My stomach hasn't gone out much in the last 6-7 years. More than I'd like it to though.

Chest and biceps\triceps have expanded plenty in the post-gym-signup days. But I've always liked nice loose shirts.

With nearly 70,000 posts on this forum (probably 70,500 by the time I'm done writing this post) I wonder how you manage to find the time to even blow your nose, let alone go to the gym.
