I'm just reading the interview with Vince there, and there's at least one flat-out lie from Vince so far. In answer to the question of whether there was ever explicit reference in a WWE script to a particular wrestler ever having to lose weight or get smaller, he says no - when any long-time fan can tell you there were numerous backstage skits prior to WrestleMania XX (or possibly a bit earlier) where Matt Hardy would be frantically trying to get down to 215 pounds, in order to compete in the Cruiserweight division.

Very interesting read so far, for sure.
Not to mention the fact that Triple H and Shawn Michaels made lots of fun of Chris Masters in a backstage promo after he got suspended, came back and looked a lot smaller on television.

I guess that's why guys like Batista and Triple H never seem to get smaller.
I think it's more the " I never considered that" when responding to the question about wrestlers welfare with steroid use that really got me. Glad he's being exposed for the low life he is.

Correction is was Christian not Matt Hardy

No it wasn't, it was Matt Hardy V1. Am pretty sure he had Shannon Moore with him as his sidekick during that cruiserweight run.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well.

Am just about to read the rest of the Vince interview, looking forward to reading the Stephanie one.

Nah it was Christian with Edge mentoring him, he then even borrowed Kurt Angle's chicken suit.

EDIT: Just consulted Wiki and you guys are right, I'll shut up now

Very interesting to read some of Stephanie's opinions on and descriptions of certain wrestlers.

MVP - "someone we're looking to try and elevate".

John Cena - "our top guy".

Hulk Hogan - "a terrible wrestler, but a brilliant psychologist and a brilliantly charismatic person"; "he had three moves".

Big Daddy V - "a really big, fat, bloppy guy". (At least, I assume she was talking about him.)

The Great Khali - "a giant". Laughably named "The Great Collie" in the transcript.

Hornswoggle - "a midget...sorry, a little person."

Randy Orton - "he's young, he's good looking, he's arrogant and that's basically it". (Talking about his character, not the man himself.)

Batista - "a kick-your-ass type guy".

CM Punk - "probably not your best-looking guy".

She mentions a guy from developmental who the Creative Team were "dying to get their hands on" - given the timing of the interview in December 2007, I'd wager that the man in question was Jack Swagger.

She also admits that "the average weight of the roster now is in the high 100s, like 195 pounds or something like that", meaning that as we've all suspected for years, wrestlers' weights are hugely exaggerated when they are announced.

Also alarming to hear her say she received a death threat in the mail once. Incredible, really. Either way, a fascinating read. Thanks for the link, masterblaster. :)

No problems mate, happy to provide the link. I've read the Stephanie and Vince interviews and am somewhat through the Dixie Carter interview.

Stephanie's interview was by far the most engaging and interesting and the way she explains the business and the creative process as well as her opinions on WWE talent and TNA is better than any shoot interview you'd ever get to see.

Her underrating CM Punk was not surprising as it has been reported that her and Triple H are not fans of his and her descriptions of Hornswaggle and Big Daddy V were hilarious even though they could be considered insulting to the talent.

Vince's interview was really difficult to read at times as he seemed really hostile and not answering questions properly. From what I've read of the Dixie Carter interview, she though seems more accommodating and more friendly and has answered the questions quite well.

Vince on the other hand came across as a shady businessman and some of his responses were simply absurd. But overall I loved reading the Stephanie interview, it was really a very interesting read.

Seems everyone is getting them. Jermaine Defoe getting them from Portsmouth fans now, apparently.
Ridiculous. Especially seeing as the money we're supposed to be getting for him (£15-20million) is way over the odds. If he doesn't want to be at the club, he can **** off and we'll take the money, thanks very much. Fans sending him death threats is just moronic.

That's including the divas too which has flourished as a division since The CW strap was dropped, so there is mass amounts of glamours running around backstage now. That may well be the reason the average was dropped, although I'm not disagreeing that their weights are exaggerated.

That is a good point, I didn't consider that the average could be including the Divas too. However, there's probably one 300-pound-plus guy for every two Divas on the roster, so I'd imagine that as you say, the numbers probably are slightly exaggerated. I was never convinced Shawn Michaels weighed 225 pounds - he's my height, isn't especially built and apparently weighs a good 20-30 pounds more than me. Hmmm.....

A couple of RAW thoughts:

- This JBL and Michaels angle is so so good. The two of them are such ridiculously good actors and the booking for this has got it rolling big time for a huge Mania program which will sell. Credit to both of them for playing it out as well as they have, just hope some of the more incompetent booking staff don't get their grubby hands into this angle.

-John Morrison is going to be a ME staple. Has the looks, charisma, athleticism and technical ability to become anything. He's even carrying that scrub Miz and getting over very nicely. Love that they're being booked strong as it also makes their Tag Titles seem meaningful as well.

-Don't think this Orton stable is doing it for me. Randy only really knows one way of promoing and isn't versatile enough to pull off a role like this. Also I reckon that the point of the stable was to put the young blood over and not bury them like what happened to Manu this pas RAW. I hope he can get some level of retribution though, otherwise e's finished.

Can't wait for the Rumble, always kick starts the time of the year when I start getting back into the WWE full on.

Yeah, the HBK-JBL angle is brilliant for mine. Gonna lead to a huge 'Mania showdown between HBK and Undertaker with JBL in HBK's corner, before HBK finally turns on JBL.

Not quite sure what's going on with Orton's stable - they kicked Manu out for being useless and replaced him with Sim Snuka, and now Sim's been kicked out too, and it's just a two-man stable? This is bizarre booking to say the least.

Christian Backstage at WWE Raw from The Sun in the UK:

AN eagle-eyed SunSport reader has spotted former TNA world heavyweight champion Christian Cage at WWE Raw.

Cage was a nine-time tag and three-time intercontinental title holder in WWE — most famously teaming with on-screen ‘brother’ Edge — before leaving for their wrestling rivals three years ago.

But speculation has been rife that he would return to Vince McMahon’s group after letting his contract expire.

TNA removed his profile from their website earlier this week and have publicly acknowledged they expect him to go back to WWE.

Scott Williams wrote in to tell us: “We are outside the building for tonight's Raw and Christian Cage has arrived at the venue in a rental car, with a guy who looked like Val Venus.

“I really couldn't tell who was driving but Christian waved at all of us.

“Looks like he is back in the WWE!”

Christian did not appear on Raw — shown in the UK in the early hours of Tuesday morning — but is very likely to star on Smackdown for a reunion with Edge.

Can't wait for his return. The first signs of his return are apparently on this weeks edition of Smackdown where a mystery attacker targets Jeff Hardy and his real life girlfriend and attempts a hit and run with a vehicle. Jeff Hardy supposedly survives but his real life girlfriend is injured in the storyline.

Of course at this stage the attacker is planned to be Christian with him also attacking Jeff Hardy before Survivor Series. I would love to see a Jeff Hardy vs Christian match at Wrestlemania 25 and it's great to see WWE give Christian a star feud straight away.

I think the JBL vs Shawn Michaels angle is a little far fetched in that I don't buy Shawn Michaels having financial difficulties. Shawn is definitely trying hard with this angle though, but it's a difficult angle to believe.

I agree entirely on John Morrison, he's got all the talent and charisma to be a main event player. He is excellent in the ring as well and always puts on entertaining matches.

I don't know what they have planned for the Randy Orton stable but it seems as if they are going through an uncertain stage. Either way it'll be interesting to see how it progresses.

Yeah for a long time now I've been a total mark for John Morrison, definitely see him as a future ME player. Though sometimes his promo style can seem a little bit off to me, too wooden or forced. He's improved a lot though and I don't think it's bad enough to hinder him
