Droylesden have been thrown out of the cup it seems.
Yeah it's a shame (remember it happening to Bury a couple of years ago) but in some ways is justice for Chesterfield. Has to go down as the most bizare FA cup tie in history,

From a personal point of view it is very irritating as we were supposed to play Chesterfield at home on Jan 3rd. Missing this game means that once again we will be within one point of dropping out the top 3.

At least it wasn't a domestic

Still s.20 - malicious wounding - nothing trivial - and a group action to boot - could be a big big story this one

Hopefully he'll get locked up for a few months, show him what's what. I suggest locking him up in a cell in Leeds or Manchester.

Am pretty surprised by this stroyline, dont associate Gerrard with this sort of thing. However must remember that he has not even been charged with anything yet and could amount to nothing.

Innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz, suspect Gerrard may wind up not actually being guilty as the police do like a big scalp from time to time (remember Harry Redknapp's farcical arrest, albeit in different circumstances?)

The reason he is a tool is for getting himself mixed up in such a mess ITFP, should have known better.

Still, I wonder if he does wind up being found guilty if there will be public protests at him playing for England, a la Barton. One suspects not, though I'm sure the 'Gerrard is overrated' camp will soon chime in and tell me how he shouldn't be playing for England anyway. 8-)

Lets face facts here though, it would be very funny indeed if he was found guilty of something, although I like GIMH suspect he probably won't be.

He's an idiot for being out at that time anyway. I know football can't rule your life but at that time, there isn't going to be anyone sober in any pub and someone is almost certain to have a pop at someone like Stevie G for the fame or 'coolness' it is going to bring.

I bet nothing comes of it, and kind of hope it doesn't, but it's not looking good with no bail being made early doors.

Yeah, completely agree, what the hell was he doing in a Southport nightclub anyway? It's a short career, a sacrifice here and there wouldn't go amiss. Liverpool have their best chance of a league since they last won it, and how ironic it would be if Gerrard ****ed up through over-celebrating a big victory.

Heavy first touch, second touch a tackle and he's not much better at football either.

I wonder if you've ever watched him play Scaly? His performances in the CL final in 05, the FA Cup Final in 06? Against Olympiakos for Liverpool when they were in the ****? Against Portsmouth in the FA Cup in 04, when the rest of his team (Salif Diao, El hadj Diouf, bruno Cheyrou) laboured?

I don't watch as much of Gerrard as some of those who swoon over him, but on club form he's the best English central midfielder by a good way. Sure, he hasn't reproduced that for England, and that's why there's such bad feeling towards him IMO. But he's not overrated, he is a player I would kill to see in my team.

He'll soon find out who his mates are - even if he was involved then presumably they will do their best to row him out of it? - any CCTV evidence is unlikely to shed much light so he'll just need to keep his nerve under interrogation - should be a breeze for him shouldn't it?

Seconded. Obviously there are flaws in his game, as with every player. However, I just don't see how anyone could fail to see Gerrard's quality. Statistics don't lie, and the fact that Gerrard is consistently one of the highest-scoring midfielders in the Premiership season on season, and usually near the top of the assists charts to boot, speaks for itself.
