I'd hate for Batista to win the Rumble. Hasn't he won it already? What purpose would it serve to have him win it again? That being said I do like your other picks.

Matt Hardy would be a fantastic pick and Hardy vs Hardy match at Wrestlemania would be truly fantastic. They can make Batista vs Cena anyway without having to give the Royal Rumble win to Batista.
Yeah, totally agree, I'd hate Batista to win it, but I can see it happening, especially if he takes a few weeks off and returns at the Rumble itself.

Picked up a DVD last night, as a christmas present for myself, Hell In A Cell: The Greatest Hell In A Cell Matches of All Time. Only watched 3 matches so far, but two of them are easily the most incredible matches I've ever seen. HBK vs 'Taker in the first ever HIAC, and Mankind vs 'Taker. I'd seen footage of Mankind getting thrown of the Cage, and through the roof, but I'd never ever seen the match in full. That was incredible. Will we ever see another match like that, or has it put them off completely?
There will never, ever be another match like that. Not even that match was supposed to be like that, if you read what Foley claims about it. What that match did for professional wrestling is immeasurable, and there could be a million hardcore Hell In A Cell matches to follow it, but they could never have the same impact.

I doubt we'll ever see anyone take bumps like those taken by Foley in that match - partly because the WWE wouldn't let them no matter who it was, but partly because there are probably only two men in the company capable of putting themselves through that kind of bump - Edge and Jeff Hardy - and both are far too valuable to the company for them to lose right now. I can see Edge taking a bump like that, maybe in eight to ten years when his physical shape is deteriorating and all he's got left is his mic work and his ability to bump, and ditto Jeff in ten to fifteen years, but no time soon.

Raw was from Toronto today and whenever WWE is in Canada, it's an awesome show. The faces got booed, the heels got cheered and Chris Jericho got one of the biggest pops ever. Trish Stratus came back and there was some solid wrestling on the show. Can't wait to watch it.

Good new everyone Batista is out for 6 to 8 months, which means he won't be going up against Cena at Wrestlemania

Relieved he won't be on my TV screen for ages but could never celebrate an injury to anyone. What happened to him?

Muscle tear apparently. He's suffered plenty of muscle tears throughout his career. Not a fan of his at all, but wouldn't want to wish injury on anyone.

This leaves the door open for Cena vs Orton and Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania 25, with a possibility of Edge vs Christian as well.

Same as you guys, was relieved when I saw the news but also feel a bit sorry for him, fairly serious injury. Hope it is nothing long term.

And yeah, the crowd reaction on RAW was so awesome.

Yeah, same here, I kinda feel for the guy but it makes the Road to WrestleMania so interesting. Throws it wide open.

Cena vs Orton in the main event of WrestleMania, one-on-one, would be a top notch feud and a top notch match. We've seen it all before as I've said, but this would be fresh. Last year's 'Mania was really all about Triple H, and no-one expected Orton to win. This year, Orton has so much more credibility. I would love to see him take the title from Cena at 'Mania.

Cena vs Orton, Hardy vs Hardy and Edge vs Christian - I am so pumped for WrestleMania already it's ridiculous. First things first, we have the Royal Rumble to look forward to - man, 2009 could be an awesome year.

Random thought - next week's Fatal Four Way Elimination Match for the title shot at the Rumble includes three out-and-out heels, and a guy on the verge of turning heel who's just helped another member of the match to secure his spot. Bizarre.

Hmm, heel v heel is probably the hardest match to book and to pull off properly, so I'm intrigued on how they do a heel v heel v heel v tweener match.

Oh god, I hope HBK doesn't lie down for JBL. It would get ****loads of heat on him obv but I severely cba for more JBL title matches. :(

I can see that happening, sadly. In the long run, if they really want to push HBK as as heel/tweener then they're going to have to go to great lengths to get the fans to boo him. They need him over as a heel if he's going to wrestle 'Taker at WM25, and if the cost of making that match as big as it can be is a poor JBL vs Cena title match at the Rumble, then I wouldn't have that much of a problem with that. Rumble title matches are usually short, throwaway ones anyway. Remember Lesnar vs Hardcore Holly?

Besides, the blowoff when HBK finally kicks JBL in the face (probably at 'Mania, when JBL berates him for losing to 'Taker) will be worth it.

Gahahaha that feud cracked me up, so unbelievably out of place. Then again I enjoyed it because Hardcore Holly is a psychopath and seeing him constantly trying to assault Brock Lesnar out of nowhere amused me greatly.

Mate of mine has an almost pathological hatred of Hardcore Holly, it's hilarious. He derived far more pleasure than is healthy when Cody Rhodes turned on Holly and aligned himself with DiBiase earlier in the year. Believe the reaction was something along the lines of, "that is the single best possible thing that could have happened in this match. Unless Rhodes had DDTed him so hard he died."

Seriously though, I'm pretty excited about WWE at the moment. 2009 could be a really strong year. Can't wait for the Rumble, particularly because it'll be the first one I've ever had the chance to watch live on PPV.

News on the character that had a vignette the other week on SmackDown! is that it has already being scrapped and he was meant to be in a fued with 'Taker and was going to have a cult following with Kevin Thorne and a masked wrestler by the name of Black Pain. The reason behind this is because Vince doesn't want new talent to be involved in a major fued before they have being tested.

Very interesting for me as I was interested in this guy and wanted to see where that angle was going I just hope though that they pick this Angle up further in the future.

I would prefer a Batista-Cena over an Orton-Cena tbh.

The Cena-Orton feud last time around was really dull and until or unless there is a double switch it would not interest me.

How about a Matt-Jeff-Edge-Christian TLC for the world title at Mania:cool:

Don't agree with this at all. Think at the point when Cena got injured, it was really starting to hot up. The possibility of Orton finally being the one to take the belt off Cena had got a lot of people very interested, and Orton was in bad-ass mode, attacking Cena Sr. and all. Would like to see them end their almost 18-month feud over the next few months, it never got closure.

Don't think they would allow a feud win for Orton over Cena.

You can win the battle but Cena would always win the war.I hope they can convince Rock for just one more match.

Yeah, Cena will win the war, but I don't have too much of an issue with that. He is a face, and faces do win about two-thirds of matches - make that three-quarters at WrestleMania. However, I think unless they really want Cena-Orton as the final match at 'Mania (which it doesn't have to be - Hardy vs Hardy, 'Taker vs Michaels or even Edge vs Christian would all be candidates if they happen), an Orton win could happen, probably thanks to interference by The Legacy. Then they could finally end the feud with an interference-free Hell In A Cell Match at Backlash - they were planning a HIAC between the two for Cyber Sunday last year anyway.

Well, I'm bored, so I'm gonna do another Fantasy WrestleMania card, updated to feature recent events.

WrestleMania XXV - A Family Affair - A Five-Hour Silver Anniversary Spectacular

WWE Championship Match - Brother Versus Brother Part II
Jeff Hardy (c) vs Matt Hardy

World Heavyweight Championship Match
John Cena (c) vs Randy Orton w/Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, Manu & Sim Snuka

The Phenom Versus The Icon
The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels w/JBL

Brother Versus Brother Part I
Edge w/Vickie Guerrero & Chavo Guerrero vs Christian

Brother Versus Sister Challenge for total control of Monday Night RAW
CM Punk w/Shane McMahon vs Chris Jericho w/Stephanie McMahon

Street Fight
Triple H vs The Big Show

ECW Championship Match
Jack Swagger (c) vs Finlay w/Hornswoggle

World Tag Team Championship Match
John Morrison & The Miz (c) vs Rey Mysterio & Evan Bourne

WWE Women's Championship Match
Beth Phoenix (c) vs Trish Stratus

25-Man Legends Battle Royal

WWE United States Championship Match
Shelton Benjamin (c) vs Mr. Kennedy

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
The Colons w/The Bella Twins vs The New Hart Foundation w/Natalya Neidhart

Money In The Bank Ladder Match
MVP vs The Brian Kendrick w/Ezekiel Jackson vs Umaga vs Hurricane Helms vs Kofi Kingston vs Kane w/Kelly Kelly vs R-Truth vs Vladimir Kozlov

There's a certain amount of artistic license in there, and it was very difficult to find ways to shoehorn certain essential participants into the lineup, but I think thirteen matches is about appropriate for a five-hour PPV. The MITB participants are always pot luck really, so they're interchangeable depending on other matches.

Fantastic card there mate. If that was the actual Wrestlemania 25 card, you would've had my money. Would've bought a PPV of that calibre on the spot. I especially like the Brother vs Sister for Total Control of Raw match featuring CM Punk and Chris Jericho. It's a solid PPV card all round. Well done!

That match is rumoured, actually. It's rumoured to be the moment when Vince finally makes his dramatic comeback to TV. I can see Steph picking Jericho to represent her after picking him for Superstar of the Year, and Punk needs a high-profile match. Punk vs Jericho on the grandest stage of all would rock the house.

Oh, and thanks. Should start a promotion myself someday. :D
