ICC 2008 Succession Game

Heres the save file after another county match and three T20 games. Unfortunately we had a big loss in the county game with nine wickets falling in one session but we're still third on the table. :)

Haha - I actually think winning the Twenty20 competition on ICC is just as difficult, if not harder, than winning the county championship sometimes. I've never had great success in T20 games either.

After a shocking start in the Twenty20 competiton (2 wins from 6 games) we just managed to qualify. :) Theres a county match and then the Challenge Cup semi-final and the Twenty20 quarter-final coming up.

I'll play another couple of matches tonight. Cpr or Kweek, or even Ed or NZTailender, feel free to jump in by the way. :) Its about sharing the progress of the game rather than winning every match so you're all welcome to have a turn.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I might have a go sometime soon, as I've got nothing happening after Monday.

What tactics do you guys use for T20? I always try and bowl first regardless, because chasing seems so much easier. I also often rest my in form players so they don't lose form, and play reserve or youth players. It often goes okay because it's a shorter format.

I've also found extremely part time bowlers go quite well if everyone else is getting tonked. A few seasons ago I gave Jacques Rudolph 2 overs in desperation and he ended up taking 4fer (4 in one over after the first conceded 2). Next few matches used him as first backup bowler and he did really well, now he's part of the main bowling attack in T20s and often outperforms the specialists.

I've found this to be true in ICC a lot. I only play ICC 2002 but any time I'm bowling my main guys and they get belted around, bringing on someone with almost no previous bowling history can often prove fruitful. I've had weird instances of people who have never bowled before taking 4- or 5-wicket hauls in 3-4 overs which is pretty ridiculous hehe...

I'm not really a fan of part time bowlers to be honest, though did use James Hildreth quite often on ICC 3 as a partnership breaker if all else failed. Rudolph might as well be an allrounder on ICC because I've heard of several people using him quite effectively with the ball.

As for the Twenty20s, I don't really have a favour of chasing or setting a target, and so long as I don't lose wickets in bundles, or let the opposition get off to a flyer, I usually feel I've got a reasonable chance of winning. I don't really tend to rest players either which is about why half the side have lost all their form from their first half of the season after the Twenty20 group matches. :p

Havent jumped in purely because i dont have time for write ups, or indeed taking my time over matches, wouldnt feel right just doing 4 games on a blinder and letting the side down. Also dont overly have much time for ICC, the joys of 60 hour weeks :) (though bonus of a sat night off thanks to covering someone else's shift earlier in the week)

I'll jump in at some stage over christmas, ICC won't run on my laptop so i'll have to try to get it running on one of the computers back in Belfast. Should warn you though, i haven't played a lot so i'm not much good :p

I decided to keep the game moving so played a few matches tonight. Unfortunately we lost the Twenty Over Cup final to Middlesex (incidentally the winners in real life this year too).

Have you played any more Atreyu?

With regards to the patch, I'm not sure how that will affect the game if some of us play with it and some of us play without it, so hopefully that doesn't mess the game file up.

Funny. Could have sworn I already put the file back up. Ill do it now.

I'm giving up my shot because of a inn/170 run loss:dry:

Opponent racked up about 500 so I set my batsmen to Defensive and they collapsed in both innings to 199 and 127:wacko:

Next match is the 50 over final so I don't think I should do it after that. Lol

Just realised I don't know how to upload the file:happy:

Haha, ouch!

You'll need to find the folder for ICC 2008 and then look for 'Saves'. You should see the .cap file of the Cricketweb, Lancashire game there. Use winzip to make it smaller, and then attach it to your post.
