Tallest cricketers

Tremlett's taller than Harmison UIMM and I'm almost certain he's the tallest to play for England recently. Flintoff, Caddick and Broad are all pretty steep as well. With the likes of Tremlett and Caddick it's exaggerated by their lankiness and their thin, long arms.

Jefferson is said to be the tallest ever to play for a county but that might well just be heresay.

Never really took much notice of the fact that Suliemann Benn was unusually tall BTW, but you Kiwis are right, he is.

How tall was Zoysa? Maybe it was his action or something, but he always struck me as tall.
about 6' 3". Very skinny, and very Bruce Reid like in bowling as well.
Yeah Zoysa had me fooled when I first saw him as well, thought "bloody hell he looks incredibly tall" then I found-out he was only fairly tall.

Guess the fact that he opened the bowling with Vaas, who bowls with a fairly similar action but a much smoother run-up, and is one of the shorter seam-bowlers you'll see, is kinda off-the-scent-throwing.

How could you not notice that Benn is tall, if you noticed Tremlett and Caddick were tall by their lankiness and long thin arms then what was stopping you from noticing benn was tall. Got one of the most ungainly actions i have seen for a long while.

From memory:

Jefferson 6'10"
Garner 6'8"
Broad about 6'6" or 6'7"
C Ambrose and G McGrath about 6'6"
Caddick 6'4" or 6.5"

Harmison 6'4"
Fred 6'3" or 6'4"

I've only seen him once, and noticed obviously that he was tall but not freakish-style tall. If you'd asked me before this thread I'd probably have guessed at 6'5", 6'6".

I've watched Tremlett and Caddick for many years.

Steven Finn has great height and is a seamer, but still looks like becoming the next Jefferson - ie, more famous for height than skill.

I've only seen Finn bowl in U-19 cricket but he's always impressed me when i've seen him. Still far too early to either write him off or build him up anyway.

Just remembered I also saw him in the Stanford T20 malarky and thought he was alright in that too.

Well he's been around a little while now and has yet to remotely suggest any real improvement. Obviously he's still just 21 so there's plenty of possibilities still open, but the longer it goes the less you start to hope.

Tall bowlers are so often mishandled too.

Speaking of these tall cricketers, who are some less than ideal height fast bowlers who nonetheless bowled at express pace?

Waqar and Gough come to mind among those I've seen. Neither seems particularly tall compared to the likes of the other express bowlers of their time. And of course Marshall.

Pretty sure Breice Rude was about 6'8, wasn't he? I don't think Australia have had too many taller.
