Ok, missed the Cena-Jericho match, nothing unexpected there but got to watch the triple threat. Wow just wow. Feeling a bit :( for Edge but seeing Jeff go over like that was just awesome. Seriously awesome triple threat. Not as good as Benoit at the Garden but can be mentioned in the same breath IMO. Nice PPV, two truly memorable matches and one awesome promo by Michaels and JBL.

Just watched Armageddon at a mate's house. Few thoughts:

Vladimir Kozlov def. Matt Hardy (pinfall)
Interesting matchup, quite enjoyable, and well booked. Having Kozlov in a mini-feud with a guy who's very over gets Kozlov lots of heat, and having it as a non-title match keeps him well above the level of the ECW title and firmly in the upper card.

CM Punk def. Rey Mysterio (pinfall)
Was always going to be a fantastic match, and didn't disappoint. They should do more of this sort of match on PPV - matches that aren't really there for angle advancement or for booking reasons, but just because they're almost guaranteed to be awesome. Punk vs Mysterio probably won't happen again for a while either, and I think they picked the perfect time to do it for the first time. Also picked the right winner - Punk vs Regal will be a top notch feud.

The JBL-HBK promo was great, HBK being JBL's bitch and choosing himself over the fans is a great way to turn him heel. Will lead to him being forced to challenge 'Taker at 'Mania and eventually turning on JBL, I'd bet. Can't wait.

Finlay def. Mark Henry in a Belfast Brawl (pinfall)
Fun little match. Would have liked to see some weapons other than trash cans and kendo sticks (are there many kendo sticks left lying around on the streets of Belfast these days?), but it was alright for a Henry match. Think Henry should have gone over though, I was looking forward to seeing him mercilessly obliterate Hornswoggle and get an insane amount of heat.

Batista def. Randy Orton (pinfall)
Good match, wrong winner. Although Batista has essentially been Orton's bitch for the last few weeks, so I guess he had to get one back. Wondering who this increasingly-more-awesome stable Orton's created are actually going to feud with over the next month or two. Should be interesting.

Michelle McCool, Maria, Mickie James and Kelly Kelly def. Natalya, Victoria, Maryse and Jillian Hall in a Santa's Little Helper Match (pinfall)
Usual Diva filler match, nothing of note. Except, of course, for Michelle McCool using THE STYLES CLASH as her finisher! Not content with having robbed the Angel's Wings from Christopher Daniels (and being banned from using it after the other Divas complained it hurt too much), she's now plagiarised another TNA Original's trademark move. I'm fine with paying tribute to people you respect by using their moves, but when they a) currently work for a rival company, and b) clearly have not been asked for permission, it's a little bit stupid.

John Cena def: Chris Jericho to retain the World Heavyweight Championship (submission)
My only qualm with this match was that Jericho tapped out too quickly to the STFU. Other than that, it was great.

Jeff Hardy def. Edge and Triple H in a Triple Threat Match to win the WWE Championship (pinfall)
Well, what can I say? An absolutely top-drawer match between three world-class talents, and an epic, career-defining moment to end it. I didn't expect Jeff's big win to come until WrestleMania, but I was delighted to see it come early because it throws possibilities wide open. I'm very happy for Jeff to have proven all the doubters wrong, I've been a Hardys mark for nearly ten years now and he deserves his big moment. Fantastic ending to what I thought was a fantastic PPV.

Been watching Sachin Tendulkar's fantastic innings all day. Just logged on to read this, Jeff Hardy new WWE Champion? That's unbelievable!

Disappointed they took it off Edge, but they had to give it to Hardy sooner or later. What a great moment for him. Didn't catch the PPV, may have to catch it now.

Have had some time to digest Jeff's big win last night following my initial mark-out, and I'm still ecstatic. There's one possibility above all else that makes me foam at the mouth - the idea that they might be going with Hardy vs Hardy at next year's WrestleMania.

Think about it - Edge, in his brilliantly insidious way, raised the notion on this week's SmackDown that Matt just might be jealous of Jeff. Matt didn't deny it - he responded with violence, but he didn't deny it. They also didn't pull the obvious "Matt comes out to celebrate with Jeff" angle, which I was sure they would.

It'd take a lot of good booking to get Matt up to main event level by WrestleMania, but the payoff would be insane. The only possible drawback is that Edge vs Christian might be sacrificed, as they may not want two very similar brother-vs-brother angles going on.

Not Terrible
HBK vs. Y2J
Edge vs. Christian
Hardy vs. Hardy
Undertaker vs. HHH
Cena vs. Orton

That would be my dream Wrestlemania

There's only two people who attacked Jeff Hardy for mine. One is Matt Hardy and one is Christian. I'd be very interested to see how they pull this storyline off.

That is an awesome Wrestlemania card. Although since Michaels and Jericho have fought countless times, I would make some minor corrections to that:

Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker
Edge vs Christian
Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy
Triple H vs Chris Jericho
Cena vs Orton

HBK and Y2J always have the best matches and I love their ongoing feud. A HHH and Undertaker match at Wrestlemania just tastes of someone who would actually end the streak.

Then I'd have all the guns like Punk and Mysterio in some awesome massive match or two.

HBK v Taker has to happen for me. We're already seeing the start of what could an awesome heel turn to set up the program.

Actually that happened after the event finished "After the Jeff Hardy celebration, Matt Hardy came out and celebrated for like 10 minutes with his brother."

Tomko returned to Raw this week in a Dark Match against Paul Burchill. The match is up on Youtube. Wasn't a great match to be honest. One great role that Tomko could pull off would be for him to be Jericho's bodyguard. That would be extremely entertaining.

Not sure what they're gonna do with him on his return TBH, but I don't think that'll be it - they've gone to great lengths to put Jericho over off his own back so far, and I think having a bodyguard would be a step back for him. It would take away the credibility of his claims about being "the best in the business today" and make it seem like he was hiding behind someone else. He'd still get over massively, I'm sure, but I just think it'd be a bit weird seeing him have a bodyguard after two World title reigns without one.

We'll have to try and keep this thread active without him I guess. He'll be missed in this thread though as he's always good value when it comes to WWE discussion.

A slow week coming up for WWE with the Christmas break coming in. Any tips on who's winning the rumble from people here?

I would think Randy Orton would be a pretty good chance to win the Royal Rumble this year. He's got a new stable and WWE would really want to do another Randy Orton vs John Cena blockbuster match for Wrestlemania.

Another contender could be Edge and possibly Mr Kennedy coming back after injury. Christian if he's coming over could be a rank outsider to really shake things up. Matt Hardy possibly winning the Royal Rumble and facing Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania cold be huge as well.

It'll be interesting to see who everybody picks for the Rumble.

My picks:

1. Randy Orton
2. Matt Hardy
3. Edge
4. Mr Kennedy
5. Christian

Interesting picks. I still think Batista-Cena's a lock for 'Mania this year, but the WWE have been surprising us a lot recently, so they might decide to go elsewhere, making Cena-Orton a possibility. My only gripe with Cena-Orton is that we've seen it before, a lot, and it would have to be a really new and fresh angle for it to work, even though the match would no doubt be good.

Even if Batista-Cena is a lock, however, that doesn't necessarily mean Batista's winning the Rumble. I think he's a solid bet - especially if he takes a month off between now and then after eating a punt to the head from Orton - but he's not a surefire winner yet.

I think Christian's return will be saved for a bigger moment than as just another entrant in the Rumble - I doubt they'd push him to a Rumble win right on his return, so I think he'll return on SD or at NWO.

Personally, I'd go with Matt Hardy. I think a Rumble win, a challenge for Jeff's title and subsequent heel turn/reconciliation angle is the only way the WWE bookers will ever get Matt to finally break through from the midcard to the main event, and I think the bookers know it. I think Hardy vs Hardy at WM25 would absolutely tear the roof off, and I can't wait to see if they're actually going to pull the trigger on it. On the other hand, Hardy vs Edge or Hardy vs heel HHH would also be awesome.

Another one out of left-field, given his recent angle, would be MVP. What could be more shocking than a man who hasn't won in over 4 months winning the Royal Rumble? I have doubts about whether they'd push him into a WrestleMania main event so quickly (Cena-MVP would draw, but would Jeff-MVP? Not likely, we've seen it before, and recently too), but I can see him winning the Rumble in controversial fashion and then rightfully losing his title shot to Matt Hardy or someone else later on.

In summary, my top five picks:

1. Matt Hardy
2. Batista
3. MVP
4. Randy Orton
5. Edge

I'd hate for Batista to win the Rumble. Hasn't he won it already? What purpose would it serve to have him win it again? That being said I do like your other picks.

Matt Hardy would be a fantastic pick and Hardy vs Hardy match at Wrestlemania would be truly fantastic. They can make Batista vs Cena anyway without having to give the Royal Rumble win to Batista.

Picked up a DVD last night, as a christmas present for myself, Hell In A Cell: The Greatest Hell In A Cell Matches of All Time. Only watched 3 matches so far, but two of them are easily the most incredible matches I've ever seen. HBK vs 'Taker in the first ever HIAC, and Mankind vs 'Taker. I'd seen footage of Mankind getting thrown of the Cage, and through the roof, but I'd never ever seen the match in full. That was incredible. Will we ever see another match like that, or has it put them off completely?
