So I guess Peter Fulton will replace Ross Taylor if he misses the second Test? Don't know about Jacob Oram playing as a batsman only. Maybe it could work.

Has looked decent in the few innings he's had so far. Depending on how he does for the rest of the tour and against England and how the next FC season goes, he might be dropped.

TV said Taylor will be fine.

Oram isn't a specialist batsman and his form is crap, so no.

Selectors will have to make a call on How now. Debuting somebody against India is a dumb idea, so if he's going to be dropped it will have to happen now. Personally I think How should have one more chance, but then that means some poor bastard will likely have to face Zaheer on a greentop prepared for the Indians.

Pissed about how Jamie How has gone. It looked as if he had started to fulfill his obvious potential in England, but no, he has turned to **** again for some inexplicable reason.

Bring in Marty two toes!!!

I'm liking the look of Flynn higher up the order, he looks willing to play his shots and seems to be fully committed to the shot he is playing, unlike others in the lineup.

Devon Smith > Chattergoon. Smith can catch as well.

Think West Indies should have taken Sammy with them. He could have played instead of Baker/Edwards and he can bat and field as well.

IMO when Gayle opted to take the 2nd new ball, I thought Edwards was not that bad with the ball, certainly ruffled up Franklin to force him to slide over and hit his own stumps because he was not comfortable with the ball around the rib cage and forced him to play that leg glance like that.

Didn't see any play today, but was Gillespie as **** as his figures suggest, or did he just get clobbered by Jerome Taylor during his ton (which is something I thought I'd never say..)?

Gillespie actually has a history of bowling terribly and ending up with good figures so one might say he deserves that anyway, but the selection was curious to say the least in the first place. Bringing Mills and Franklin in had logic to it, but I certainly didn't think Martin deserved to be dropped for Gillespie by any stretch and I doubt many disagree now.

Haha, fair point. Random stuff like that sometimes happens though - tailenders come in, have a swipe and ruin figures without bowlers bowling particularly badly. Generally doesn't result in said tailender scoring a hundred without the bowling being bad though, admittedly.

Yep, WI's fast(ish) bowler fetish is silly. If they had more than 1 half-decent fast(ish) bowler it'd make sense, but they keep including 2 proven useless ones who can't bat.

Sammy particularly in NZ would give a far better balance and at least he can keep the batsmen under control on a good day.

Can't stand this over-rating of Xavier Marshall.. Just because he can hit a few nice shots doesn't make him any good.. Just look at Chanderpaul who averages nearly 50 and never hits any nice shots..

Come back when you've hit an FC hundred and then I will perhaps think you warrant your place.. Probably the worlds most over rated cricketer at the moment

Hi folks, newbie WI fan here.

I must say i'm just fed up to the back teeth with Chatergoon, he's a damn opener at the stumps and yet he struggles to get to 20 runs these days, for me it's like he's a waste of space in there and it puts massive pressure on Gayle, Sarwan and of course our very own superman Chanders, we simply must find a new opener if we are to make progress in the batting department, i'm also not happy with Xavier either, yes the kid has big potential but it's high time he starts to think a little bit before going gung ho and wasting yet another wicket while only producing around 15 runs, the plus points in this test is the fighting spirit we showed once Ramdin was dismissed, Taylor was a sensation and i hope that gives him confidence to at least get into the 30's consistently from now on because he showed he's got all the shots in the book, and also our bowling hasn't been too bad i must say, yes Powell was such a bloody waster in NZ's first innings but i still believe in him, Edwards, Taylor and Bravo we have one of the most dangerous bowling line-ups in world cricket, i'd love one of our spinners to step forward though, i can't believe Nikita Miller wasn't included in this test because i felt he done well against Pakistan and he took witckets in all of those one dayer's, talking of Bravo where on earth is he?, is he injured?, i never saw the very start of this match so i haven't got a clue what's happened with him.

Answers to questions about Gillespie.... Was he **** = yes. Did he deserve to be picked = no. Have the selectors learnt a lesson = no, he'll likely play a whole career bowling like he does, he hasn't changed and 75% of the time accounts for a lot of the runs scored. Cannon fodder, beach ball thrower. His average is 34.54 in his three matches (third currently going) but his economy rate is 4.41 which is not good at all unless it was an ODI. Martin is much better than him and at least southee doesn't get that many runs scored off him.

i think it is essential Chatergoon is given time, rather than him putting pressure on Gayle, he is more of a good foil for Gayle. He is just a bit low in confidence. There are people that are a lot more talented than him, i.e. Devon Smith but these guys have been given a million and one chances and have failed, i think Chatergoon just needs a bit more confidence, he has the right temprement and his technique isnt that bad.

By the way in answer to the Windies fan question Bravo injured his ankle, had surgery on it and should hopefully be back for England which is likely to be a close series as it is in the Windies.

With regards to Marshall he is never in a million miles the most over-rated player currently. Everyone says he has potential, which is true as his flamboyant stroke making has made evident. But I am sure most people with half a brain know he is not that good now. Against seemers he excels but against spin he struggles sometime. I seem to remember in Australia him getting out to M Clarke once or twice. Marshall was selected on potential and talent, both of which he has in abundance. Yes, he is pretty poor now, but no one else warrants a test place ahead of him, also know one else does that well in Carib-beer cricket, only Gayle, Sarwan, and Chanders have test worthy FC averages.

Marshall>>>>>>>>>>>>Morton

Marshall>Devon Smith who else would be in the team before him>???????
