Did not do this yesterday because I was having a little whingefest, but congratulations to the Aussie supporters on here, and to the Australian team.

Some good performances from them, especially from Katich in the first test, and Haddin in the second (I finally see why people have been going on about him. He played a glorious knock). Also, good work by Clarke in both tests, especially in situations where the team was in some trouble. A couple more knocks like that and he may start to put to bed talk that he goes missing when the heat is on.

Good to see Lee back in wicket taking nick too - Australian wickets and conditions seem much more to his liking - and its also nice to see the smile back on his face. It is strange though that he is yet to take more than a 5 fer, and only has 10 5 fers in 70 odd tests with no 10 fers. Hopefully he redresses that in the SA series as he has returned to his role as the pivot of the Australian bowling attack. Johnson seems to be coming on a bit too, kudos to the Australian selectors for sticking with him. I certainly did not think much of him in the India series last summer, but he seems to have come on over the year. He still seems to have problems with that seam release, although its not as bad as it was, but his speed and slingy delivery seem to be working fine enough to compensate thus far.

Looking forward to the clash of the titans vs SA (although I doubt I wil get to see as much of it as I would like). I dont think SA will win a test, and Aus to win it 1 - 0.

At the moment, there are probably, or should be if we had the back up, only 5 certain picks for the home series'. Namely Ryder, Taylor, McCullum, Vettori, and O'Brien.

O'Brien and Taylor have to be, for me, the NZ players of the Australian series.

Still, I dont think players like Franklin and Oram should be rushed back before they are ready. We should be able to compete much better on our home tracks against the WI with what we have - while our bigger and better guns can and should return vs India.

. Southee is only 19, needs time to hone his skills and domestic cricket is the place for that.
Disagree. IMO domestic cricket will provide Southee with more than a few green tops where he will simply be able to bowl anywhere up the other end of the pitch, get movement, and pick up a few wickets and as a result, not have to improve much.

I think him playing on the Adelaide oval the last few days helped his development much more than bowling for a season on greentops. The only way he is going to get better at bowling on pitches like the Adelaide oval or Indian type pitches is to play on the Adelaide oval or Indian pitches , as there is nothing really similar to that in NZ. I dont see how bowling on green tops for another few years will make him a better bowler at the Adelaide Oval type of pitch.

Its a shame but NZ cricketers have to do a lot of their development at international level.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I would stick with How as he has age on his side. Knowing our selectors they will persist with Redmond the entire summer based on his first innings, even though his average is only 23 after 14 innings.
Seems fair considering How averages 23.62 after 30 innings.

Agreed, the orgasmic love fest of the channel 9 jizz team is vomit inducing.

Pity I did not get to hear them while India was wiping the floor with their beloved "Baggy Green".
All they did was switch their fawning over to the Indians. They're anyone's for the right price.

I would have prefered three Test, maybe they could have given one to us here in Canberra?
For real how come Canberra hasn't gotten test status yet?. The ground looked pretty good when India played a ODI game @ the venue early this year i thought.

Good to see McCullum get a good score, big fan of his and it's about time. Did he play well?
Very.

As was mentioned by Bahnz, if he'd played like that when he batted at 5 he would have done well there. But instead he did it at 7, and ran out of partners. Frustrating.

That's true. Which I lost by 2 runs, losing the series 2-1. Maybe a 2-match series would have been better in that case.

That's true too. The first day of this series was quite good though...shame about the rest of them.
