Nice disrespect from Greig, as usual. McCullum keeps out a rapid yorker from Lee and Greig says "bowl it there again, he's bound to miss one".
Greig is an arsehole of the highest order. Is he backing the opposition or is backing Australia or both? He makes up some random Sri Lankan aunt every time they are out here, has a pull about the South African team even though he captained England (TBF SA were banned then) and is also having a pull over the England team. Chuck in a bit of patronizing along the way, and he is quite easily a douche bag.

He almost got sacked once for a Dean jones-esque faux pas while commentating as well.

Well that was ****ing rubbish. Stupid Doctrove had to saw off O'Brien like that, if he had stuck around for a couple more overs McCullum could have got a ton.

In an ideal world Ryder would be batting at 5, but we simply don't have anyone good enough to bat at 3. Fulton looked majorly out of depth, Flynn isn't good enough, James Marshall isn't good enough, no one else in the country is good enough. The two options are Ryder and Taylor and i'd prefer Ryder.

West Indies series will be an interesting one...if we don't win i'll go on a mass murder spree.

Yeah replace him with James Marshall and put McCullum at five.

Look, Fulton is a good player, and far better in FC cricket than the rest of them and is better at ODIs than Flynn or Styris. He's out of nick but he's far more likely to come good long term than...others.
The massive problem I had with Fulton today was his feet, which appeared to be well and truly embedded in cement. Look at that ball he got out to - there is no way in hell he should have been even contemplating playing it on the back foot. It hit the stumps two thirds of the way up. I like Fulton - I've always thought he has a touch of class about him - but if he can't get forward on a relatively placid surface against a ball which was clearly fullish in length, I despair what'll happen on a track which may offer a bit.

Northern Districts in December 2001. If you're interested, the ND bowling attack was Tuffey, Yovich, Aldridge, Styris, Bruce Martin and Bradburn.
Well that is a decent bowling line-up. I bet they got the mother of all sprays from the coach.

I find it funny that to support an argument that the NZ commentators are biased, the example of that Gillespie innings was used. How about the things they said about Hayden's innings earlier in that same game?
Also thought it was a bit ironic that they made very little of what I thought was a pretty average dismissal from Doctrove to give O'Brien out - I'd have bet that if Stuart Clark or Johnson received that sort of call in the same situation they'd have had a much stronger reaction.

It was in a 75 run partnership for Canterbury with Chris Harris. Struggling to find out who it was against though.
Surprised to see Martin contribute such a high percentage of the runs (33%) - even though he hit just one boundary in the innings.

Yeah, they wheeled out the old "we have the advantage of replays, the umpire only sees it at 140kph" story.

I'd imagine so. To make Martin's innings even greater were the facts that Tuffey would take a six wicket bag against England later in the season, Bradburn had represented New Zealand the previous summer, Stris was still seen as a bowling all rounder then, and Bruce Martin and Yovich were on the fringe of selection around the time.

Yeah, they wheeled out the old "we have the advantage of replays, the umpire only sees it at 140kph" story.
Which is a stupid excuse, because in real time it was obvious there were two noises, and it was obvious the bat was very close to the pad. Immediately after it hit his pad I said "he hit it" then Doctrove rose his finger, what a dick.

NZ commentary would would have been more like this scenario...

Richardson taking the side of the batsman.

Doully taking the side of the bowler.

Smith "McCullum is looking sublime out there."

Don't get the comparing of TV commentary teams, they're both bias as **** imo. Listen to the radio (y)

As for that McCullum six over point and the guy that caught, great shot and romdom old man >>>>> Flynn's catching
Is a romdom a romantic film starring Hugh Grant as a nervous, submissive wreck who gets repeatedly spanked by a woman in a latex catsuit?

O'Brien was exceptional today. Thought he was in with a shout of most balls faced for a duck until he was sawn off. An excellent supporting innings from GoBri though. Kiwi man of the series for me.

The problem being the radio is a couple of seconds earlier than the pictures/commentary you get on tv. So, if you want to actually watch the cricket, you pretty much have to listen to the crap commentary. Also, no way is the NZ commentary team as bias as the Aus commentary team, Crowe is always VERY critical of NZ players and all Richardson and Doull do is take the piss.

I wish there was a commentary button on the remote just like there is subtitles. Hoping for better technology! :)
