excellent player...congrats to him! he has been a vital cog in the wheel of aussie dominance....

Whatever it takes!!!
He is a moron sometimes with his comments (mostly on cricket, seems a nice enough guy talking about other stuff and was reasonably friendly when I met him) but he has been one great opener. Quite vastly under appreciated here... Won't have him as my two all time XI openers but he would be pretty near those two. The bloke worked hard to turn his weaknesses into strengths and I am sure in any other era, he would have been able to make the adjustments and still been a good to really good opener.

Good catcher too.

Love you Haydos. Have enjoyed watching you bat since I started watching cricket.

Honestly, do not start up that crap again or thread closed, which would be a shame because Hayden deserves the recognition. If you want to go and bore the living daylights out of everyone else, go do it somwhere else.
You're posting towards me who is being sarcastic yet the post above me which is a direct swipe at anything Hayden has achieved is left to glow. Great stuff.

Excellent player, probably one of Australia's best ever openers, and somewhat underrated in certain circles. Not my favourite player to watch or anything but you can't deny his success.

Wouldn't go so far as to say he was better than Ponting as is implied above, or even close, but certainly very good.

I don't think Hayden would mind, so you don't have to defend his honour. Let Richard have his opinion, no matter how dire you think it is.

Great player. Anyone who averages over 50 after 100 tests must be considered a great IMO. I don't think he's an a-hole like some people seem to be saying. He seems to be a genuinly nice guy and family man. Have to say though judging by some of the comments he has made (obnoxious weed) he doesn't strike me as one of the smartest people going around. In that sense he reminds me a bit of Ponting.

Anyway well played to Hayden, I don't think he'd have had a cat-in-hell's chance of widespread success at most times in Test history but he's a damn good player for the circumstances we've seen since September 2001

As I say, in his last 71 Tests he's done what Australia needed, which is mercilessly bash weak bowling on flat pitches. Small achievement though this may be to my mind, there's no disputing its worth to his team.
If those are compliments, then my name is Mother Theresa.

Same old broken record. Same Richard. And I was told to "cease and desist".

It's not about defending Hayden's honour. It is about defending sanity. Hussain > Hayden to Richard. Was just making that clear for those that were about to take Richard seriously.

Let him say what he wants. If he has something bad to say, as long as he's not trolling or abusing, is ok.
