Do they not have loads of underage drinking? Thats some savage attitude towards alcohol they have.. In SA it's like they really don't want you seeing/buying it, but once you've got it, you'd be a fool not to fill a wheely bin with it and drink the lot
Its a funny one.
They have a lot of underage smoking, I'm sure.
Definitely not the binge drinking culture that you would see in NZ.
Here, "drinking" is just drinking, whereas back home "drinking" means getting ****faced.
Maybe I hang around the wrong people, but most of the Japanese I know call me an alcoholic because I drink on weekdays.

Yet at the same time they have "All you can drink" night clubs and karaoke etc, drink till you drop basically.

Guys it's always normal for spinners to be hit all over the place on day 1 session 1. Especially when it's a new spinner, the opposition always attack to break the spinner's confidence. Remember how many runs Krezja went for in India? Both of them are attacking spinners.
Hauritz is not an attacking spinner. He's actually quite defensive.

I'm trying to imagine what would happen if they put a vending machine full of Alcohol somewhere in the UK.. In SA they would probably melt down the metal and sell it, then drink the contents

How are the redmond haters going ?

*
Well thankyou. . I still dont see him succeeding in international cricket so my opinion hasnt changed. The thing for me is when he plays on the back foot he is never really set. He pushes forward, then tries to get back, but doesnt have enough time so ends up hitting the ball and then his back foot hits the ground after that. He is usually playing back foot shots on the move....not good. Thats also why he doesnt seem to get a lot of power in his shots, his body is not set and balanced to get power into the shot. 1 or 2 of those cut shots were played with both feet in the air. Well done to him today, done bl**dy well but I still dont see him succeeding long term.

I don't rate Redmond, and the bowling's been poor on a flat pitch. Still, he's been absolutely textbook, you couldn't fault him in the slightest. Which is annoying because it means he'll keep his place.
Like watching him bat to be honest, he could turn into a bit of a cult figure.. I just thought "million dollars" implied he came out looking like Pietersen or Brian Lara

No chances given, no poor umpiring decisions to go in his favour and 65 runs off 97 balls on the board.

He has looked 4 million bucks.
he has got the runs but they havent been pretty. He doesnt seem to hit many well timed.. pure shots. Hes done well and Im hope he gets a big hundred, but he looks a class below TBH IMO.

Redmond's looked a lot better in this innings than say, Matthew Bell did whenever he scored Test runs, but to say he's looked "a million bucks" would be pushing it a bit. He hasn't played and missed a lot or anything but his footwork still looks pretty dire, particularly on the back foot.

Good innings indeed that has shown a bit of character and more technique than some of his predecessors, but he's hardly Jacques Kallis out there.

Hah, did you see Kallis bat yesterday? Looked hideous for mine

While things are good at the moment, I can still see things going horribly wrong after lunch, bit like in 3rd test at Napier against England earlier in the year.

They've just bought out some stats for Aussie spinners this year..

Feel like going back to my cricket and trying to qualify for Aus, FFS they have served up some poor averages.. And I was coached a bit by Terry Jenner..
