What the joke? when the ball hasn't been swinging or seaming he hasn't done much in those 3 tests and a few first class games, so I would pick Martin and O'Brien over him on a lifeless track, thats what it boils down to. He will develop those skills in time. So I gather you will drop either O'Brien or Martin in the next test?... thats if they are going for 2 spinners.
I wouldnt play two spinners. All 3 seamers would play.

For mine Southee's problem isn't that he is completely unthreatening when the ball is doing nothing, his problem is he doesnt have the match fitness to sustain good bowling over both innings of a test. This fitness only comes through playing more FC cricket, and getting more and more bowling into his legs.

We saw in England in the ODI's he was more than threatening when the ball wasnt swinging. His bounce and line is very good, and tricky if he gets it right. The more games he plays, the better he will get.

Anyway, I doubt Adelaide is going to spin a lot.

Definitely not. In fact, it's cloudy today and from what I've seen, there will be showers tomorrow morning (first Adelaide Test in years that won't be a stinker heat-wise). It'll be fairly cool for the whole Test which will surely only help Southee's chances.

Well, if there is heavy weather it will definitely mean the ball is more likely to swing. We should stick with the same bowling lineup bar Elliott for mine. They all did a good job in helpful conditions, lets see how they go in not so helpful conditions.

Drop Elliot for Fulton and push McCullum to 7.

That is our best lineup at the moment. Probably won't see it though.

The lineup i'd like to see in Adelaide is:

Redmond
How
Fulton
Ryder
Taylor
Flynn
McCullum
Vettori
Southee
O'Brien
Martin

I doubt it will happen like that though. If anything Fulton will come in at a completely foreign number 7.

Athlai

Not Terrible
How
Redmond TBH.

How averages in the 40's as first opener.

I am growing a fond appreciation of Ryder 3 Taylor 4, Fulton would be an excellent 5 IMO.

The cloud layer is a bit broken up and quite high right now so I'd say they'll see how it goes tomorrow morning before deciding. Looking good for some swing, though, as it's warm-ish too.

Far as I'm concerned, the bowlers absolutely did the job for NZ with all bar Elliott doing really well. Be foolish to muck with that, especially if they're locking in as a team.

I prefer Fulton at 3 and Ryder down at 5. I also hope Vettori gives Redmond a bowl if it is spinning.

Look, I can forgive some "out there" selections from time to time, and even tolerate some of the more bizarre efforts fromt eh Aussie selectors of late.

But the Krezja/ Hauritz thingy here defies all belief. They've lost me, completely.

That is all.

I also like Fulton at 3. Ryder or Taylor can be at 4or 5...i'm not worried about that.
Definitely Fulton at 3 and Ryder and taylor the next two which ever way around. A middle order of Fulton, Taylor, Ryder, Flynn, actually looks pretty solid. And solid is not something you hear a lot with the NZ batting lineup.

Complaints about selection from a NSW'man? What next?! :p

Taylor should be at 4, that's where he's best at. Ryder at 5 would be a good counter-attacking-type of role for him to be in.

Excellent...looking forward to our batsmen taking on the next no hope spinner Australian rolls out. Hopefully we can see off the new ball in any case.

If Fulton bats at seven, which seems likely, he's home free. Stable partner at the other end in Vettori and facing the might of Hauritz. Whilst I'd prefer him down the order I think he will score runs at seven. Too bad its highly likely Bracewell will make Fulton open in place of Redmond.
