TBH, as long as the players know exactly what's happening and why they've "dropped" each time, I don't see why it should be a problem. I'm all for continuity in selection but you can use this in conjuction with horses-for-courses as long as the logic behind selections is explained to players and they know whether they've been dropped because their performances are unexceptable or because there are better options for the balance of the team on certain surfaces.Watson rails again selection policy

I hope Watson got told he was dropped for lack of runs, and not because he's not suited to Adelaide. His Shield match there last seaon he scored 190 in his only innings and took 3/40 ish for the match.TBH, as long as the players know exactly what's happening and why they've "dropped" each time, I don't see why it should be a problem. I disagree with his point about all players being able to adapt, too, really. Sure, players will adapt with experience but an adapted player still might not suit the balance of the team in certain conditions as much as another player.
Well it doesn't matter we need a spinner and Watson hasn't done enough with the ball or bat to keep his spot.Watson rails again selection policy

Peter Siddle, apparently?Who's more of a swing bowler?
Really? OhPeter Siddle, apparently?
That was the point that Ponting was trying to make. It's easier to swing the ball in Brisbane than in Adelaide and you know there's not going to any bloody seam movement so his line of thinking is that you need to pick your best swing bowler so he'd have a chance at getting something out of the deck.Who's more of a swing bowler? I thought Brisbane was the place that swung due to the humidity? Thought Adelaide didn't swing because of the dry heat.
Well...hopefully the guy who swung the ball the most in the Brisbane test (Southee) will keep his spot so we can see if there will be any swing. I still reckon picking your best bowlers is the way to go, regardless of what they do. I have no idea if Siddle is one of the best or not, but if he is then he should get a run. That was the point that Ponting was trying to make. Or something. I dunno. Truth is, though, that the guys who've done best in Adelaide in years gone by have been guys who medium-paced swingers. Even Steve Waugh cleaned up a few years ago and Damien Fleming's Adelaide record would be pretty good. Maybe the recipe for some Adelaide success would be if someone like Stue Clark cuts his run-up and pace and tries to get more movement in the air?
Be shocked if Southee gets dropped!Well...hopefully the guy who swung the ball the most in the Brisbane test (Southee) will keep his spot so we can see if there will be any swing. Well...if Patel plays (which is being talked about) then it will likely be O'Brien or Southee to make way, and both had pretty good tests and because Southee is a swing bowler he would probably be the likely way to be dropped.Be shocked if Southee gets dropped!
Siddle is a decent bowler and, in fairness, has a great record against SA in Adelaide (bastard). But yeah, I'm in the 'pick your best bowlers' camp.
