FYI, Symonds has been absolved of all blame by CA

Maybe you'd realise that if you pulled your head out of your arse for even a nanosecond
The issue was never if Symonds was at fault or not, it was simply that he was out drinking when on tour after he had just been suspended for incidents which involved alcohol, and he had admitted that alcohol was a problem for him.

He is an idiot.

Yeah exactly, except I wouldn't be as nice as this.

If Symonds had been banned from drinking or given an undertaking that he wouldnt drink, he'd be in trouble

As neither of those situations applies AND he did not behave poorly, the whole thing is obviously nothing more than a media beat-up

I guess some people wont be happy until he refrains from visiting any licenced premises

Oh wait, cricket grounds are licenced

Surely the latter was implied, though? I mean we're not talking contractual obligation (maybe in the next round....) but it'd be a bit much if he thought things would necessarily stay exactly the same.

Haha, there are some people who'd rather he wasn't at the grounds!

Symonds is a rock ape - if they dont want him to drink then stick it in his contract

Unfortunately, the motive driving many of the Symond bashers is simply that, for whatever reason, they dont like him and want to see him crucified

Personally, I couldnt give a crap whether he went on a bender every night and missed every team meeting so long as he performs on the field

Andrew Symonds has apologised to his team-mates for the events of the past few days after being cleared of any wrongdoing by Cricket Australia.

What do you mean 'as good as'? In this context, 'as good as' means controlling themselves and not getting into bar fights or showing up drunk. If you saw them, then they obviously weren't as good as the ones I mentioned.
How well do you know any of those people?

Until recently, sportsmen have been protected by the media the world over

One of Australia's greatest ever cricketers played test cricket wlhilst slugging a bottle of Bacardi a day

Possibly the world's greatest sportsman, a guy with a squeaky clean image, spent the night before his first Oz appearance in a strip bar at the Cross

These guys are human and, in most cases, live an incredibly protected life where they are able to get away with almost anything

Again, you are missing the point. If you can't understand why Symonds going out to a public location and drinking straight after he had confessed alcohol is a problem was stupid, then you are utterly blind.

Not Terrible
He was having a light beer and not drunk and a guy picked a fight for him. Guy was dealing with his problem and didn't stay out late, big deal out of nothing. He's just topical.

Andrew Symonds Didn't say he wasn't going to stop drinking he said he was going to cut back so really this fuss is all for nothing.
