What planet are you from? Their whole lives do not revolve around their cricket, just as in the same way that your whole life wouldn't revolve around school/work. Teammates aren't the same as friends and while they can be there is no reason why Lee has to be with them 24/7. I see All Blacks at clubs all the fricken time in Wellington and they're usually by themselves. Because they are people who are there to have a good time. He wasn't suggesting that Lee shouted everyone a drink for the heck of it, just merely an instance of when this happened to him. Perhaps Lee and him really hit it off and had a good laugh which made him want to shout the drink. Hardly that much of a stretch of the imagination.

You are separating cricket players from society itself when they are are in fact a part of society too. People have bad days, how would you deal with hundreds of screaming idiots asking you for an autograph every day of your life and whenever you just want to focus on your work they mutter about how you are such a bastard.

FFS.
I don't think you get it he plays cricket all year round. His team mates are his friends. He goes out with them not by himself. The All Blacks are different to the oz cricket team.

1) He did not mention when he met Lee. Might have been while the man was injured.

2) Cricket does not take up the whole year and player's get breaks.

3) What proof do you have that his team mates are his friends and that he spends his free time with them? Or that cricket players go to 'exclusive' places?

4) The professional rugby calender is arguably more strenuous than that of crickets and the All Black brand is certainly more popular in terms of fans.

Well the 4th one you have summed up yourself they feel safer as they have more popularity. Brett Lee is obviously friends with team mates. When he produced his bollywood hits Clarke and Clark were there with him on holidays. Well how many times have you run into Brett Lee at a nightclub it hardly ever happens as they pick their times and places. And Cricket does take up the whole year. And even If he wasn't playing at the time he would still be hanging with a team mate as they are all mates.

Brett Lee has yet to hit the Wellington night life as he hasn't toured here in years TBH. Popularity and notoriety go hand in hand, the more well known you are the more likely you are to get into trouble.

You are treating a cricket player like someone who isn't a part of society. They are a minor celebrity in reality.

A rugby player in Wellington will feel safer as they are idolised. There would be intoxicated aussies in nightclubs who would want to knock his block off so to stay out of trouble and avoid the spotlight they always go with a team mate.(Friend)

Your proof of this is...? And most people I know think a bunch of the All Blacks are prats.
Most Nz's I know idolise all of them and if they saw them in a nightclub would never dream of hurting them. And My proof is Andrew Symond's goes to a bar gets into a fight. Same story with Clarke and Hayden and nearly all of our league players. So to avoid wankers they hang around in exclusive nightclubs not the yagoona tavern for a few quiet ones during happy hour.

No hope shouldn't have even bothered. Disaster.
I think you meant more along the lines of:
You're right Brett Lee is a Basturd for not signing a few autographs and don'tcloseyoreyes is a liar about meeting Brett Lee. I am now convinced well done terrific points raised.

Most aussies would have difficulty picking an all black in a lineup let alone recognise him in a nightclub

BARNES OUT
Yeah because
a) what would he be doing at a random nightclub by himself ?
b) They have their own private hangouts
c) Why would hw shout you a round taking the risk of being noticed and having to shout others
d) Why the hell would he dance with some random and take the risk of being noticed, sledged or even worse punched out.
a) I live in Wollongong mate, he grew up here and owns a home here. That could have something to do with that.
b) He was with some mates from when he was younger, it was just before the 07 WC and he was obviously not there. His ankle was on the way up at the time, apparently.
c) & d) Because he was a great bloke. Was next to me at the bar and paid for my (shock, horror) 4 buck schooey. Everybody had already noticed him, he's Brett Lee ffs. He's just a normal bloke having a beer or two with his mates and having fun, this is Wollongong not the ****in Cross. No one's gonna belt him.
