Wouldn't be confident of seeing any play, looking at the forecast! Was thinking about going myself but probably won't after seeing how much it's predicted to rain tomorrow.Anyone going to the Auckland vs Wellington game tomorrow at Eden Park? Since i'm currently doing nothing else at the moment I thought I better go and watch some cricket :P
So has Wagner given up the ghost in South Africa and is now content to play in New Zealand for the rest of his career or does he still harbour ambitions in SA?Good start from Wagner.
Thought I read somewhere that he has pledged himself to NZ cricket. He might be lucky with Franklin and now Boult already available. So has Wagner given up the ghost in South Africa and is now content to play in New Zealand for the rest of his career or does he still harbour ambitions in SA?
Wagner never played professional cricket in South Africa, played amateur cricket for Northerns, so it wasn’t like he had much hope of playing for South Africa. He did however go on an academy tour to Bangladesh earlier this year and did nothing other than get fined for dishing out some verbal. So has Wagner given up the ghost in South Africa and is now content to play in New Zealand for the rest of his career or does he still harbour ambitions in SA?
thats depressing reading given most of them are tried and tested guys like Bell and Cumming.NZ Openers this season

Yeah, the weather has been crap this arvo and is supposed to continue like this tomorrow. Still, going on Auckland's weather it will probably be fine. Will see how it is in the morning, then make a decision.Wouldn't be confident of seeing any play, looking at the forecast! Was thinking about going myself but probably won't after seeing how much it's predicted to rain tomorrow.
Yep, he's pledged his allegiance to NZ and hopes to one day become a BlackCap.Wagner never played professional cricket in South Africa, played amateur cricket for Northerns, so it wasn’t like he had much hope of playing for South Africa. He did however go on an academy tour to Bangladesh earlier this year and did nothing other than get fined for dishing out some verbal.
Believe he has a long term contract with Otago and will look to qualify for New Zealand…
http://www.odt.co.nz/sport/cricket/29551/cricket-wagner-composed-and-ready-deliver"I ended up picking Otago because cricket-wise I want to play international cricket. Firstly I want to become a regular in the Otago side and then hopefully, once I qualify, play for the Black Caps. I want to play international cricket, that's my dream."
Don't think you can see either Bell or Cumming were afforded the same kind of support in the test team that Redmond has received. Wouldn't mind seeing one of them, particularly Cumming, back in the test side if they continue to perform. The only other mildly serious candidate is Guptill who did relatively well in his solitary "A" test in India, but of course he's injured.thats depressing reading given most of them are tried and tested guys like Bell and Cumming.
Yeah, he really shouldn't have been. He was one of only two batsmen to emerge from the SA tour with any credit, and then he gets dropped on the basis of one poor series against Bangladesh. Really poor stuff from the selectors. It's debateable whether or not Cumming should've been dropped in the first place. At the current time, out of all fit and available players, I'd back him.
