Taking 9 is pretty impressive though. Overall, good to see more bowlers get MOTM awards. But without Katich's innings, Australia would've been in a really bad position.Mitchell Johnson MOTM, nah.
I think this team would be more benficialYes Franklin and Oram are desperately needed , its number 1,2 and 5 that are the real problem. Martin Guptill is a good up and coming opening batsman.
Ponting: "We didn't have the best of games but it feels good to bounce back. We came to Brisbane after 6-7 weeks in India so out batsmen were a bit underprepared for the conditions. Hopefully our batsmen can get better in Adelaide. We're going to have to work a lot harder down there to get wickets. To get two late wickets last night was always a bonus.I don't want to see ponting bull**** on about how well australia played here. Because the fact of the matter is they didn't play well at all and it was new zealand's batting and some anchor innings from clarke and katich that saved them. So if he says that it won't be good for the side. He should be saying that they need to work harder to find another gear not anything like that.
Wow that's horrible.I think this team would be more benficial
1. How
2. Flynn
3. Taylor
4. Oram
5. Mcullum
6. Ryder
7. Franklin
8. Vettori
9. Southee
10. O'brian
11. Martin
Shouldn't rush him. How has a good record since his recall and one bad match isn't enough for us to chuck him. 28.33 under Vettori is a half decent average for a NZ this match was just the bane of all openers besides a great knock from Kato.Yes Franklin and Oram are desperately needed , its number 1,2 and 5 that are the real problem. Martin Guptill is a good up and coming opening batsman.
I keep hearing that, but he was never given a crack at test matches, well he played one test and got 6 wickets @ 17.5. He had 3rd best bowling average in county cricket after part timers at 19 and clean up last domestic season.Andre Adams = not quite a top level performer
Other guys would have been nice though.
Up and coming, yes. But I think he needs to make the runs in State Championship cricket first - still doesn't have a FC century to his name yet. He's injured at the moment anyway.Martin Guptill is a good up and coming opening batsman.
He's also a ****.I keep hearing that, but he was never given a crack at test matches, well he played one test and got 6 wickets @ 17.5. He had 3rd best bowling average in county cricket after part timers at 19 and clean up last domestic season.
Even though I'm a staunch supporter of Australia, I do feel any team that has to play against the joke that is Mitchell Johnson deserves to be cut some slack.
I was thinking about that myself. But Martin did bowl very well in the second innings.Mills > Martin maybe?
Well I'd be picking him over Elliott, that's for sure!I keep hearing that, but he was never given a crack at test matches, well he played one test and got 6 wickets @ 17.5. He had 3rd best bowling average in county cricket after part timers at 19 and clean up last domestic season.
Would be harsh on Martin (if you're meaning to replace Martin with Mills?), I thought he was your best bowler after Vettori yesterday (was at the ground). O'Brien & Southee looked fairly tame. Would try Mills for O'Brien for next match tbhMills > Martin maybe?
Mills would have killed with this swing in the first.I was thinking about that myself. But Martin did bowl very well in the second innings.
Because he is just annoying. He bowls too innacuratley and gets wickets off wide half volleys also becuase he averages over 30 with the ball and hadn't taken a 5 for before today. I would much prefer noffke or Hilfenhaus IMO
What do so many Australians have against Mitchell Johnson?
I thought O'Brien > Martin overall in the match though Martin was the best yesterday. It's a tricky one and the fact its a liability to have both those guys at 10 and 11. We can have only one IMO.Would be harsh on Martin (if you're meaning to replace Martin with Mills?), I thought he was your best bowler after Vettori yesterday (was at the ground).
