Ah well, still enjoyed the game.

The first day was only the second time I've ever seen NZ actually compete with Australia in Tests (the other being the Perth game in 2001, where oddly enough our batting was great but we couldn't bowl the ****s out). It was a weird, but nice feeling.

How disappointing. This was New Zealand's big chance and they blew it. It's not often you have Australia on the ropes. This New Zealand batting side are woeful. I'm sure there are better players than How and Redmond in New Zealand domestic cricket.

And it's all over.

Good on Johnson for getting his first Test 5 for and taking 9/79 for the match.

Yeah someone needs to tell Southee to just have a swing no mater what, he just looks hopeless when he is defending.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Martin should start getting front of the stumps entirely, facing down the pitch - remove the option of getting bowled. Sure, he'll get out LBW most of the time but there might be enough doubt in where the ball is pitching and height etc to get away with it, certainly more useful if he can hang around a few extra deliveries that way than trying to block a ball and completely missing it to get bowled. Helps no one.

Nice to win again. Quality Test though it's a pity that only one side can now win the series after only the first match.

Should just shut his eyes and just swing.

How is honestly our top opener in the country, Redmond however is not. We persevered with him and he has given us nothing and now he has to go.

Elliot isn't good enough at this level, he's okay but he's only half a batsman and half a bowler and I don't see the point in having that kind of player in the team.

McCullum at 6-7

Flynn at 5.

Southee, Martin, O'Brien, Taylor good game boys.

Yes there are, well not much in the way of openers but some of our more experienced players were given the cold shoulder my this current coach and selection panel. McMillian, Fleming, Astle and Styris could still be playing, then there is Andre Adams who averaged about 21 with the ball in county cricket and about 10? last domestic season.

Martin's a real liability. In today's cricket it's imperative that your tailenders at least contribute a little. How New Zealand would wish they had a Ishant Sharma or a Zaheer Khan, guys who bowl well but also can pitch in 15-20 runs with the bat regularly.

 With Mills in form and Franklin in the team we have the best tail in the world.

Andre Adams = not quite a top level performer

Other guys would have been nice though.

It's unfortunate they weren't playing this game, they really could've been valuable. I was more referring to a number 11 batsman and how most number 11's contribute somewhat now a days. But it's amazing that Chris Martin just doesn't get better.

I don't want to see ponting bull**** on about how well australia played here. Because the fact of the matter is they didn't play well at all and it was new zealand's batting and some anchor innings from clarke and katich that saved them. So if he says that it won't be good for the side. He should be saying that they need to work harder to find another gear not anything like that.
