BARNES OUT
It was better than Gabba for scoring as the card suggests.
No. This wicket is pretty hard, bouncy and coming onto the bat. All of the movement has been exaggerated thanks to the conditions in Brisbane at the moment (massive storms broken up by 25-30 degree heat) creating swing. There's a touch of green but it's rock hard and not much seam movement at all.

Not for the first 2 days as the batting of both teams shows. It's definitely becoming a good wicket to bat on, but unfortunately a bit too late.

I don't want to say this pitch is bad, in fact I love to have such pitches where bowlers are encouraged and batsmen are really tested whether they are batsmen or just batboys. The same reason why I loved the Kanpur pitch also. Unluckily, that pitch somehow doesnt suit the myopic view of the ICC.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
This and why the picked him is beyond me.
Solid but unspectacular couple of seasons put together opening in Domestic cricket. Was thought he could grind out an innings and see off the new ball, which is something that hasn't really happened since Richardson. he was worth the punt, but now it's failed his time is over, save a miracle century at Adelaide.

Back to Mathew Bell?
Please no :(

What are the odds that in the next game

McCullum or Fulton or Flynn open in place of Redmond?

This would open up a spot for Jeeves.

Was great to see Taylor bat so well yesterday. Certainly has a lot of class about him. Although I hate watching Katich bat due to his ugliness there is no doubting his ability and it certainly was an excellent innings from him.

definately not McCullum in tests, but I wouldnt mind seeing Flynn being given a shot. Fulton has been tried and tested there and I would rather see him at 3. The best order for Adelaide given the current squad:

1. How
2. Flynn
3. Fulton
4. Taylor
5. Ryder
6. McCullam
7. Vettori
8. Mills
9. Southee
10. Patel / O'Brien (pitch dependant)
11. Martin

That is the best side given the current squad but it does look a bit light on batting with Vettori at 7 but I couldnt bear myself to see Elliott is there again.

I went to the match yesterday, got so burnt and so wasted. Was great to see Kato carry his bat, the first Aussie in the past 10 years to do so and nice to see Lee pick up his 300th wicket.

Taylor looked good and so did Flynn actually. I'm quite excited by the middle order of Ryder, Taylor and Flynn.

Really looking forward to Oram's return so McCullum can bat at 7, which will mean the only spot in the order that needs serious looking at would of course be Redmond who should possibly be a specialist 12th man.

yeah, Taylor and Ryder seem more of a 4,5 combination or maybe 5,6, rather than a 3,4 combination. It just seems a bit too high for them.

Elliot isnt up to it, but I think youre side there is a bit too light on batting. Also Mills has gone home so it has to be either Redmond or Elliot that plays. As we dont have any other real opening options at the moment, I guess Redmond would have to play. I suspect it will be his last game.

You realise that there's more to the quality of a wicket than how many runs are scored on it? This wicket is fine, it's somewhat helpful for seamers but a team could easily score 400+ on it, and it's flattened out as the game has gone on. An excellent test pitch, one of the best in Australia in a while.

I'm loving this wicket

Even though I'm a staunch supporter of Australia, I do feel any team that has to play against the joke that is Mitchell Johnson deserves to be cut some slack. The key will just be Vettori defending and not scoring, and Taylor playing his natural game. This partnership has to be above 80 to put some pressure on us and make Ponting panic. From there anything can happen, especially if faith is continued to be placed in Johnson.

Johnson's taken six wickets in this test. I realise he isn't the most appealing bowler in terms of consistency, but he does bowl wicket taking deliveries, and he's done so more often than any of the other Australian seamers of late.

It really does throw everything out when Oram is injured, shame Styris hasn't been getting any runs lately, I am sure he would play a one off test again if asked.
