When and where do SL play there next tests? I'm interested to see how Mendis will go.
I wonder if Mendis will be the Hussey of international bowling. The kind of player whose average starts out ridiculously better than all the rest and just sort of stays there for an extended period of time. Currently his ODI bowling average is about 10 and in Tests it is 18. I imagine given the nature of test cricket it will surely pop up to 20+ in no time but I'm curious to see how long his ODI average remains under 20.

As it is, I give him another 3 games to take Ajit Agarkar's fastest to 50 ODI wickets record. :(

Ajit Agarkar averaged 21 when he reached that milestone of 50 wickets. This guy is maintaining half that average. Mind boggling. This guy might be a major incentive for Murali to carry on for the 1000 test wicket record, for both load sharing as well as competitive reasons.

Maybe he'll get 500 wickets by the time Murali gets to 1000.

I think the way Mendis bowls, unless batsmen figure him out soon, he'll definitely go on to beat a lot of ODI bowling records... he'll need 300-350 games tops to cross Wasim Akram's record. Tests may be another story altogether.

Maybe he'll get 500 wickets by the time Murali gets to 1000.
I feel like the two will be close to 1:1 for the rest of Murali's career in tests. So assuming Murali goes for 1k, by the time he retires, Mendis will be 28-29 with about 250-300 wickets.

Wonder how many Murali had by that time...

But I feel like Mendis will be hard-pressed to break Murali's test record

Murali for President, IMO.

We wonder how cricketers get their numbers. Numerologist Sanjay B Jumaaaaaaaani (did I get the name right?) says Tendulkar's number 10 is inappropriate, saying it is a number of Russian Roulette, basically, inconsistency. He can't keep performing at the top of his game when he has that number, and needs to change it. Not too long ago, he said Sreesanth's 36 is a lucky number. We wonder where Sreesanth is now.

It's either that, or a cricket match between Scotland and Bermuda. Now, I am an educated man, Charlie, but when someone tries to explain cricket to me, all I want to do is hit him in the head with a teapot.

President Bartlet on why he'd rather watch womens softball on The West`Wing

I hate being embarrassed on the cricket field by an 18 year old kid in my team whose fielding is like a combination of Andrew Symonds, Gary Sobers, Jonty Rhodes and Mark Waugh rolled into one.

Go to the point on Saturday where the opposing captain was smiting these balls like bullets to cover on a very uneven outfield, only to see this kid swoop on every single one of them, causing the skipper to look at me and say "What the **** is this?" while I did my best to knock down anything that came my way at point and nearly broke a finger in the attempt, despite them being hit half as hard as the blls the young bloke was stopping.

The same number which AFAIK has been banned by a number of teams.. Can't remember who though, I think English county cricket
Ha, they've actually banned the number? Didn't it occur to them that spectators who understand the significance of that number probably don't need shielding from it anyway?

In one match back in 2001 in South Africa, Harsha Bhogle and Pat Symcox were discussing numbers, and said Klusener's number is his 'birth date'. They then started joking about it, with Harsha saying Pat's number would be 34! It ended there and Pat started discussing each others' heights.
