Never been this happy to see an Australian sporting team lose. Suck **** ****s, especially Billy Slater and Joel Monaghan. Massive ****-ups couldn't have happened to more deserving players.

You followed the WC? Australia have won every game (including games vs. England and New Zealand previously) by about 40+ points. This final very akin to the AFL final in terms of recent records and ultimately, result.

Sure, so that would justify NZ paying $5, not $9 right?

Its a final, with only two possible winners. Anything is possible and obviously pressure can result in upsets.

Mind you, as I said I know **** all about rugby league so maybe you're right, but when I see a WC Final with NZ paying $9, its impossible not to dabble a bit in it.

Aus have lost twice since 2005 I think, and haven't not won the WC since the 70's.

Am I right in hearing that Lockyer was MOTM? What the ****? I didn't see much of the game but didn't his failure to put the ball down properly (thus ruining his side's chances of a six-pointer) begin the comeback from the Kiwis?

Locky was the best player on the park IMO, fair call. Was in everything and was carrying us around the park. Thurston was playing "kick to Folau" all night and Smith was non-existant.

Deserving. Slater shouldn't have gotten MOTS though, his catastrophic ****up in the final should cancel all his earlier work out.

WC is meaningless, no one will care in a week and it doesn't make Australia any less the best side in the world. They deserved it, from the first kickoff you could tell they were thinking "yeah we'll stroll in, tough it out for 20 minutes then we'll knock up 40 points, no seat bro's."

It's somewhat embarrasing after it was dubbed "Australia's tournament", that we couldn't go on and win.

And actually, I was swearing at you due to what you had to say about Slater & Monaghan. You try being at that level and the pressure on you. Would you cope any good?

Yeh really strange call, certainly not Lockyer's best performance, he was closed down well and although scored a couple of tries, bombed another, and his side ended up losing. The award is admittedly meaningless and won't dampen the Kiwi celebrations a bit but I too was a bit puzzled at Lockyer receiving the award.

In hindsight its absolutely ridiculous but to be honest, three hours ago it was probably justified. When you consider Australia had scored more than 180 points and conceeded 16 in four matches leading up to the final, as well as beating New Zealand in the group stage by 24 points without playing near their best, I suppose offering any more than $1.11 would've seemed crazy.

No but I'm not the "best player in the world", unlike Billy Slater (apparently).

Had a $50 free bet on Australia winning it at 1.22 earlier in the year.

Not disappointed that I missed out on $11 but disappointed I didn't use it on something with greater odds

Pleased for NZ and a great result for international league. First time Oz haven't won it since 1972 and the kiwis' first ever title. Done sans Asotasi, SBW, Wiki et al to boot.
