i'll take elliott you can take white and those pies he bowled in india, ie the one that nearly missed the pitch and went for four...Did much as the same as White did in India - batted too low to be of any use, wasn't bowled much and when did didn't do too well.
Patel in for Martin, and Ryder as the 5th bowling option.Adelaide:
How
Redmond
Fulton
Ryder
Taylor
Flynn
+McCullum
*Vettori
O'Brien
Southee
Martin
More balanced and the batting has more depth and if we are relying on 9, 10, 11 to get the runs then we are ****** anyway.
IMO.
Would keep Taylor at 4 and have Ryder at 6 tbh. Flynn obviously takes a long time to get going, and has finished not out a few times, so we could get more out of him if he comes in earlier.Adelaide:

A good trade. I'll take White and use him as a batsman only.i'll take elliott you can take white and those pies he bowled in india, ie the one that nearly missed the pitch and went for four...
ahh, thought there might be something far more amusing behind itForum poster Langeveldt aka Richard Hingston (his real name).
AWTA. The one that got away IMO.Exactly. If it was 143/4 we were in with a great chance. 143/5 and you just have to hope that Elliott can just stay there and offer some support for Taylor, and atleast Elliot could be the "start of session wicket" and everything will all be OK.
Now, with 143/6 we only have Vettori and Taylor left. Atleast one wicket will fall in the first 5 overs tomorrow, and there is no Elliott type player that I wouldnt mind being that wicket. Both Vettori and Taylor are starting from scratch, they basically have to get through to lunch unscathed to have any chance. I cant really see that happening.
It really shows how much our dismal collapse in our first innings has affected the outcome of the match. If only we had battled a little harder, if only we didnt have Elliott in the team to do squat all. All we needed was to get as close to the Australian score as possible, we fell 40-45 runs too short.
Its gonna be a tough ask, I have hope, but can only think of what could have been.
Would happily take White for Elliott in Tests, wouldn't bowl him at all though.i'll take elliott you can take white and those pies he bowled in india, ie the one that nearly missed the pitch and went for four...
i wouldn't even take him for thatA good trade. I'll take White and use him as a batsman only.
i wouldn't even take him for that
I have a feeling this series will be more closely fought than the Aus-RSA one, with RSA being on the losing end.AWTA. The one that got away IMO.
If it was a team like SA or India (or England) then they would not have allowed Australia back into the game that easy.
Same here.I have a feeling this series will be more closely fought than the Aus-RSA one, with RSA being on the losing end.
White is actually a skilled batsman though - averages over 40 in First Class cricket compared to Elliott's 30. Wouldn't judge him on batting at 8 in his debut series where the other, more established and better batsman like Ponting and Hayden did poorly.i wouldn't even take him for that
It's not as simple as that. I feel RSA will struggle more than NZ, and it has nothing to do with form.rsa>aus>nz on current form
white's a slogger with a good eye, plenty of batsmen to chose from in australia who average that or much higher in the best domestic competition in australia, and going by recent results, they might want a tight well honed technique against the moving ball, which white does not.White is actually a skilled batsman though - averages over 40 in First Class cricket compared to Elliott's 30. what does it have to do with ?It's not as simple as that. I feel RSA will struggle more than NZ, and it has nothing to do with form.
It has nothing to do wtih other batsman. You wanted to swap White with Elliott, which is crazy.white's a slogger with a good eye, plenty of batsmen to chose from in australia who average that or much higher in the best domestic competition in australia, and going by recent results, they might want a tight well honed technique against the moving ball, which white does not.
I distinctly remember in the 01/02 season Tony Greig saying during the third test between Aus and NZ whilst the camera was on some RSA players in the crowd or nets (can't exactly remember which) that they were the real test and what everyone is looking forward to.It's not as simple as that. I feel RSA will struggle more than NZ, and it has nothing to do with form.
