International Debutant
Redmond definitely last chance wagon. His role here is not even to score runs, just to block up an end, blunt the new ball and generally stop a collapse.

Swing from Lee and now seam from Clark suggests the Kiwis are in deep trouble

If Redmond fails here his next Test will most likely be his last if he fails there too. Don't see them dropping him for the next Test though, as there are no backup openers in the squad, and I think wemay finally be over asking non-openers to open.

Did anyone know redmond was born in perth ? wonder if he had stayed there whether he would be in the wa team.
Possibly. Certainly not if Rogers had stayed, but would be competing with Davis or Robinson IMO. Honestly, from what I've seen of him in international cricket, he'd struggle in Australian domestic cricket.

At the moment, maybe, as I'd say he's a better opener than Davis. Redmond started his career as a middle order bat though, IIRC.

Redmond did quite well in the tour match in england, maybe he's nervous at the next level

I imagine if he stayed in Australia and grew up playing on Australian pitches against stronger sides he'd probably be better than he is now, but given his skill level from playing NZ cricket for years he wouldn't cut it in Sheffield Shield, no.
