Seems like Gallas over-reacted somewhat in that little incident he describes. Just seems like he's a ****, really.William Gallas talks in his autobiography, available today from Editions du Moment, about tensions in the France squad during Euro 2008. The Arsenal defender recounts an incident on board the team bus, where a young Blue took Thierry Henry's seat. He tells how he had also had a "small hang-up" with the player. A "heated moment" as he recalls.
"There we are in the middle of training, playing small-sided games, as always. I get the ball, but I don't see who's behind me. (...) If your team-mate says "man on", then you know straightaway that you've got to play it back. But he said nothing! (...) An opponent got the ball and I shouted instantly, "Talk, guys, tell me what's going on!". One of the two facing me keeps his mouth shut, the other mouths off: "All you've gotta do is look up, you should have known yourself!".
"I was twenty as well," continues Gallas. "I would never have talked like that to a player older than me. (...) The youngsters this year seem ****y, very sure of themselves. They think they know it all, but they know nothing. (...) When I heard him answer back, I raised my voice."
The youngster: No need to raise your voice, just talk normally.
Gallas: What did you say to me? Who do you think you are? You're only twenty, I'm not your friend.
The youngster: I'm not your friend either!
Gallas follows on by saying that the player concerned did eventually admit he was wrong. He did not reveal the name of the player, but as L'Equipe revealed shortly after Euro 2008, it was none other than Samir Nasri, who has since become Gallas' team-mate at Arsenal. In short, Gallas calls out the lack of respect of the younger generation. With club, as with country.
In fairness to Gallas, that sort of attitude is the one that generally makes me want to brutally murder people. Obviously that is a reaction I do need to contain, but it is one that stinks to the highest of high heavens.Gallas, prize goon.
Was actually good at Chelsea, as well.
Van Persie's in your top 3 most senior players? Everything sure as hell isn't rosy at Arsenal when that's the case.I'm sure everything isn't rosey at The Arsenal just now, it's the airing of personal grievances in public I find so distasteful. It's utterly anti the Wenger way too; he goes to sometimes ridiculous lengths to avoid criticising his players in the meedja. His selective myopia has long since become a footballing cliche.
The player Gallas is whinging about is rumoured to be Van Persie, if The Mirror is to be believed. Handy that arguably our two most senior players (pace Toure) are at loggerheads.
Well the squad is made up almost exclusively of schoolchildren, so at 25 with 4 years service he is a senior player, for better or worse.Van Persie's in your top 3 most senior players? Everything sure as hell isn't rosy at Arsenal when that's the case.
Proved it in the first half, everything he touched turned to absolute ****. Worst player, can't wait until next season where I'll never have to watch him play again. Why is Hughes once again playing Vassell? the guy is useless
Think we've long since crossed the border into "crisis" and are heading towards its near neighbour "****ing meltdown" now.Arsenal 2-0 down to City - Arsenal in crisis?
