I was scared before the tour started, now I'm ****ing terrified. The horror.

DWTA, right call from Vettori. Even if it is a solid batting pitch it's not going to be any worse tomorrow or the next day. If it's good for bowlers, happy days.
Disagree. Too many times touring captains have been drawn into bowling first and it very rarely works.

Haha. :(

A Test Match pitch gets worse as the game goes on, at the Gabba normally moreso. New Zealand will be batting last. Worth it for some possible early movement? Probs not. Conditions will most likely be akin to tomorrow morning.

Not Terrible
Bowling first is a good sign. Shows that we want to try win this match instead of just not lose it.

We'll lose though.

Rain's forecast though, and Australia haven't played a spinner so batting on the last day isn't the worst thing in the world. But I guess we'll never find out whether this was a good decision or not- NZ would've lost either way.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Australia not playing a specialist spinner the only thing going for us, as Cricinfo suggests that spinners have most success in the 4th innings here, more so than seamers.

Elliot's inclusion nicely illustrates the incompetence of the selectors.
Indeed.

I like Elliott, and think he should play something like 50 ODIs for us before he retires, but I really don't think he'll be effective with bat or ball in this Test.

Channel 9 have always been pretty poor in regards to things like that. Remember bowlers being listed wrong, ages, even stats.
Yeah, just checked and Flynn is 23. Good. We'd be wasting our time on him if he was 28.

While Fulton, at 29, is continually ignored...

Going down as NZ's forgotten man perhaps.
Indeed. Bracewell probably uses his Test record to justify it, without considering that he forced the poor guy to open the batting!
