Derek De Boorder is still playing...for Otago..I already said that.I thought Derek De Boorder was still playing, just in a different place. Ditto with Lythe and Canning.
Who is Canning playing FC cricket for? Lythe is a part time FC player at best.

Kane Williamson going nicely on 41. His form will be very interesting to follow this season, after the mountains of praise that have been heaped upon him over the past couple of years.
And go Josh Brodie for Wellington, fellow coll student of mine. He and James Franklin finally giving Wellington College some decent representation in the provincial side.
Pretty sure Canning retired last season.

He's not, but that's why Jimmy put the exception of before he moved to Perth - as in, he was playing First Class cricket before but isn't anymore.

I'm very disappointed that Roneel Hira (who has still been carving up at club level) seems to have fallen out of favour? Is he seen as just a one-day specialist now?
Funny situation for me because I have also been keeping an eye on Nethula. The reason is, I played against him at school and thought he was gun, and have been expecting him to make the Auckland XI ever since, but it seemed like it would never happen.
I remember because I played against Nethula in early 2000, when I was a still-14-year-old 5th former just starting out in the First XI, and he was a 7th former. Everyone had been talking him up before the game because apparently he had been recruited to bowl to the Black Caps (remember the Aussie tour of 1999/2000?) in preparation for facing Shane Warne.
He smashed 160-odd off us in one afternoon, including hitting my first 2 balls ever at first XI level for 4
The next week, he almost single-handedly bowled us out. I came in at number 8 or 9 and ended up having to block, and I scored 7 off about 60 balls, of which 30 would have been against Nethula. Pretty much I just kept playing down the line and missing- he certainly turns it a bit. I also remember being completely deceived by his wrong-un- I went to cut it and ended up playing a ridiculous shot where the ball came off the face of my bat and went down to fine-leg.
He must be either 25 or 26 as he is 2 years older than me. Not sure why he took so long to crack Auckland as he was an obvious talent from a young age.

We have serious problems if calling Jeetan Patel ineffective is controversial. His FC record is embarrassing and his international career so far sub-par.

Hey, since you went on tour with him...how good is he? I've read articles that tend to suggest he is absolutely fantastically talented and is a bit of a prodigy. Any substance to those claims?
