Indian ODI Side:

Badrinath
Dhoni

Reserves:

Praveen Kumar
Irfan Pathan
Yusuf Pathan
Rohit Sharma
Pragyan Ojha

Munaf Patel

The test side is fairly set in stone fo me. My ODI side can be rotated a fair bit though as I rate Praveen Kumar and Irfan Pathan to come in. I would stick to Mishra in both tests and ODI's and I rate Badrinath higher than Rohit Sharma in the ODI team so Rohit is on my reserves list.

Interesting how little support Pathan gets. He is still young and had a decent record with both bat and ball.

I may think he is pretty poor, but there have been quite a few guys on here defend him quite strongly previously.

Where does his career stand now?

He had a good outing in Australia initially, contributing with both bat and ball and was moM in Perth win. However since then, hsi form has dipped, and was carted in the CB series finals. Post that his eco. rate in ODIs have been unimpressive, (To his credit, many of them were on absolute roads). Right now, he is at the top of the pecking order as demonstrated by selections.

Sorry, I was talking about Test selection.

That probably looks a bit like a cop-out at the moment, but it'd depend on expected pitch conditions. If the pitch was expected to turn at any stage I'd play Krejza and Watson, else I'd go with Noffke and Symonds. I have more faith in Watson as a Test cricketer than Symonds overall despite their Test records at present but whilst I have an obvious preference (some might even say bias) towards Watson, I realise that his bowling would be pretty inconsequential if there were already four quicks in the team. Symonds would offer balance to the attack with his off breaks as the fifth bowler in the event of Krejza not playing and whilst I don't actually think he's as good a batsman as Watson as such, he's more suited to batting #6 than he is and has performed far beyond my expectations in Test cricket.

I think Jaques would offer more than Clarke as well and whilst Johnson hasn't really been poor enough to get dropped as such, I wouldn't pick him if I was picking a team from scratch which is what I'm doing here.

Can you just tell me how good low that side bats, Mills at 10! Southee at 11!
this side has the three best quicks in New Zealand, and a sensible batting line-up: Fulton back where he always should be McCullam back where he belongs and the opening problem getting fixed. I also love having Jesse Ruder down at five.

Haha, McIntosh. He's emulated Sinclair's Test career at First Class level, basically (strings of failures followed by the occasional huge score to keep everyone interested, averaging 32 odd), and yet he gets a mentioned in a thread like this. Does that mean I can endorse Sinclair in the World XI thread?

Considering McIntosh is second fiddle to Martin Guptill (who is injured), you could possibly endorse Sinclair for a World 2nd XI thread.

"S.P. Fleming" named him in his first choice New Zealand Test eleven though. Just above my post.

I know. I not disagreeing with you, I'm making comment that McIntosh is down the pecking order for a first XI, as is Sinclair (internationally though) so you can have him in a second XI

Geez, keep up PEWPEW!:p

Bias aside, Johnson, Watson, Krejza & Symonds' selections would depend upon the pitch really. Personally would play Johnson & Watson ahead of the other 2 as often as possible though.

No, that doesn't make any sense in reply to what I was saying originally. If McIntosh can be named in this thread, then Sinclair can be named in a World XI thread as McIntosh's First Class career closes matches Sinclair's Test career (assuming equal competition, which isn't so, but anyway). By your strange logic, McIntosh can be named in a New Zealand Second XI thread, but regardless of how you got that, he's been named in this one. His actual stature in terms of domestic selection is irrelevant to my point totally (although if he is just a backup, then it makes the Sinclair-Test-career comparison even more valid).

I wasn't actually trying to make a case for Sinclair; I was just pointing out how bad a pick McIntosh actually was. It seems you struggled to see my point though and hence replied with something that followed a completely different line of "logic" so this'll be my last post on the matter whether you finally get it or not. :p

I got your point, and my logic was not serious.

And oh no you don't, you get right back in here in the Never Ending Confused Argument!:@
